Think most arsenal fans wanted him as a different option.

I think giroud will serve you excellently as a plan b option but I can certainly understand your fans frustrations with him as a plan a. He's not good enough to be a starter.

Lacazette I think is the quality of striker you need but giroud for the last 20 mins when you need the opposite of what he offers you is a good option.

Exactly. OP acting like Giroud turned into Suarez overnight and proved us wrong.
He is still doing the same thing he used to do.

Every time he does the business at the ar5e end of a game is a big to some of the fan base who can't see how important he is.

Absolutely loved it when that went in.

op remember when you used to write long articles on how theo should play instead of giroud

He is good backup material. Anyone suggest otherwise?
Let him start week in, week out, and you'll soon remember how limited he is.
Doesn't have the required skill, speed, fitness and quality to start weekly.

He's more than back up, needs to rotated though, adds a lot more than some others in the squad

That's the thing. Who are you comparing him to? Welbeck?
Anyone looks great when compared to that guy. Thing is though, even Welbeck offers an outlet (as limited as he is).

Giroud showed us his role last night; coming off the bench, against a team that is sitting back, and nicking a header.

posted on 12/8/17

Are you fecking nuts? He scored brilliant header from a set piece. Thats what Giroud has always been good at. Set pieces and headers. He is very good from the subs bench because the opposing defences are tired and sitting back.

And the reason why Leicester were being forced backwards is because we finally went to a back 4 and dropped the 3 centre back rubbish.

The truth has always been that Giroud is too good to sit on the subs bench but is no way good enough to start.

posted on 12/8/17

Is that directed towards me Jenius? Cause if it is we somewhat agree and disagree.

I agree with your overall point. But I don't think Giroud is too good to sit on the bench.

I'll take that as a no. Don't feel like roasting your ass right now.

No that wasn't directed at you Dubs. Because I agree with you apart that I have never considered Giroud as completely rubbish. Its just that I have felt from a year after he joined that he doesn't suit our game and is a bottleneck to our counter attacking game because he lacks pace.

It was pointed at wb2 and anyone who is gloating. Giroud did what Giroud has done for the last year. Come on and be affective when the opposition is sitting back. I feel Giroud is good enough to start in a slower league. But what I always take offence to is when Giroud is suddenly promoted to starter that adversely affects our entire attacking schemes. It happened last season as well when Alexis was removed as striker and within a few games our entire attacking methodology went up in smoke.

Agreed.
Do you know what the sad thing is? It is 100% guaranteed to happen again, few months down the line.
Promise.

When Wenger messed Walcott in the striking position he got away with it because the fanbase has never been too enamoured with Theo. Even though we won 8 out of 9 games. Giroud went back in as starting striker and we stopped scoring because Wenger has never understood that channelling our entire play through a slow focal striker is not a good idea. He did the same thing to Alexis the following season despite Alexis scoring a lot of goals and making Ozil look half decent. Look at Mourinho over spending on Lukaku because he felt Ibra, despite his far superior finishing was stopping Man Utd as an attacking force. We have lived through that for 5 years for Wenger to finally see the light. But you are right. He did it to Alexis there is no reason why he won't do it again to Lacazette.

So when the guy does his job and doing well he just wont start only because he is not starting material, right?

Always just girouds fault

posted on 12/8/17

Nothing new here, he came on and was a danger in the air so fairplay. Don't start banging on about him being our saviour, guy does this every season. Fans get behind him , then he goes on a long dry spell during the most vital part of the season, then fans turn on him. A great plan b yes, that's why we will keep him, nothing more. Hopefully lacazette will be given a consistent run as cf.

I'm sure it's been more than 9 months since I last saw you.
Surely that's enough time for you to give birth to Giroud's child.
