To be fair to Liverpool, we're missing Coutinho, Sturridge and Lallana (arguably 3 of our best 4 players alongside Mane)
If you took Kane, Dele Ali and Eriksen out of Spurs they'd be hopeless. Likewise with City with Aguero and De Bruyne and likewise for United without Lukaku and Matip etc
Yes it's an excuse but a very valid one. Having said that, our defence is the worst in Europe.

When did LFC last rely on Sturridge as their no.1 goal scorer? How many last season? did he reach 5. So to compare his influence with Kane or Aguero is daft. Likewise Alli & Lallana, really quite different players and different influence.
Sturridge & Lallana scored 11 between them last season....you were missing 2 players who scored a total of 11. Not really like missing Kane & Alli who managed 47 between them last season

Very possibly, but it's the first game of the season and for all we know West Ham could be fighting relegation this season. They could finish in the top 6 and we later realise that was the beginning of a great season for united as well.
Point is you can't read much from the first game, so little point discussing how convincing it was.

Before the game pundits were bigging-up West Ham's signings as a 'statement of intent' or some such rubbish. After the game West Ham suddenly become relegation fodder.
It was a good performance, and Man U did what they've struggled to do since Ferguson, and that is kill a game off with goals.

No, pundits are idiots for the most part who are incredibly over the top, reactionary, and knee jerk.
West ham made 1 decent signing so far imo in Hernandez, have completely failed to address their defensive issues, added an over the hill zabaleta who sadly isn't good enough anymore, brought in hart despite Adrian being adequate, and signed yet another wide attacking player to accompany their 10 already on the books. They have a hugely bloated squad yet keep adding players they don't need. West ham are a mess as a club.
The same pundits bigged up their signings last summer.
