Give Theo a chance

Never going to happen but I’d like to see something along the lines of the below.

Flat back four, with a sitting/holding midfielder (Coq is really all we have).

Cech
Bel – Kos- Mstfi- Sead
Rambo – Coq – Xha
Ozil – Sanz
Laca

I would star playing Maitland-Niles. Very impressed by him.

_____Walcott____Lacazette____Sanchez

Not everyone's cup of tea, but each one complements each other.

Cech by default.

Still not decided between Holding and Mustafi on the right, but I'm going with the kid.

Mertesacker should have enough games left in him to carry us once Koscielny's legs give out.

Kolasinac behind Monreal, who can now go back to his beautiful overlapping partnership with Sanchez. Same case with Bellerin and Walcott on the right.

Coq partners Xhaka by default as the only reasonable midfield lump on our books. Our current midfield partnership has all the integrity of a net curtain.

Walcott will get you about 10 goals. He can track back, overlap, and remain a reasonable threat off the ball.

Sanchez can change any game in an instant.

Lacazette over Giroud against any expansive side, but I'd still go with Giroud against sides who park the bus.

Bench:- Honourable mentions to Iwobi, Welbeck, Elneny , Ospina and Chambers. Plus Ramsey for any must-win cup game.

Have a feeling he’ll get a bit of game time this season -possibly an impact sub from the bench.

Been here before over the years but certainly looks like he has the ability.

--------------------- Cech
---------- Mustafi - Per - Kos
Bellerin - Coq - Cazorla - Kalasinac
--- Lacazette - Giroud - Sanchez

Or

---------------- Cech
Bellerin - Per - Koscielny - Kolisinac
-------------- Coq - Cazorla
-- Lacazette - Ozil - Sanchez
--------------- Giroud

Our biggest worry this season is not having the MF options (need Santi back / Wilshere to find form) and our CB's getting injured.

I still believe our absolute best XI is good enough for top 2/3 - I don't believe we'll ever see them all available for a consistent run.

We need to ditch this back 3, Wenger clearly isn't convinced.

The problem with you selection is Ramsey's indiscipline so deep. In my opinion you need two to screen the back 4 and push Ramsey up. If you are them employing Ramsey in the attack than he doesn't score enough goals for me.

Theo is a far greater goal threat than Ramsey and he is better at protecting Bellerin on that side. Bellerin is hopeless as a wing back.

Apologies for the quick poorly worded response What would Stuart Pearce do?. I hope you get the gist.

Ramsey does tend to wander/lose concentration! Although same could be said with most of the squad...

Xhaka and Coq could sit to mitigate. However think we both know that's fanciful.

Understand the door was opened to Theo over the summer but he decided to stay. Like Maitland-Niles may get more playing time this season with Ox away.

I think we need to play Theo and his 19 goals in the team. We don't know what Alexis's attitude is but we also need his 31 goals. Lacazette will take time to get up to the pace.

We know Giroud's limitations as exemplified by the easy chance he missed against Stoke to equalise and his disappearing act against Liverpool. Which is why I hope he will remain an option from the bench.

The team needs pace and 6 defending. Which is why I believe we need Elneny and Xhaka sitting. Eleneny is slightly better in the air and is better positionally than Coq. We do lose some attack but when you have pace up front you don't need the central midfield adding to the attack.

Not from what I heard. Alexis was expected to leave. Oxo as well. Which is why Wenger told Theo he would not be sold.

Yes, read that too, although was much later in the window. Earlier in the summer he was given opportunity to go but chose not to.

That said, over the last few weeks, transfer strategy and squad planning has been found to be all over the place.

I am hesitant to believe that because Wenger and Arsenal have known for a year that these two players would not sign an extension. So Wenger knew we would need Theo irrespective of the change in formation. This is why Theo was played in the Alexis role albeit from the right side and Ozil/Iwobi moving to the left during pre-season. In fact he did pretty well there in one televised game playing in a deeper more central role behind Giroud.

The transfer strategy has been consistent from Day 1, knowing the suits at the club. I been getting quite a bit of grief from my Arsenal mates since we missed out on the CL, for stating that the single priority would be a significant slashing of wage expenditure for the next financial year.

The priority has always been maintaining that sweet profit record.

I can't really complain about the squad planning though. A lot of the kids stand to gain from the obvious deficiencies in the senior squad.

So many people do t seem to see qjat is in geont of their noses. Ramsey is being played as an attacking midfielder atthe top of a diamond midfield 4. He still has more tackles this season than Xhaka who is being played as the deep midfielder in the diamond. The problem is not an attacking player but an inability to defend in the player being used deeper

Ramsey is rubbish. No way he should be starting for us. The guy spends most of his time up front chasing goals.

So according to you, we're playing a midfield diamond - 2 of which consist of wingbacks hugging the touchline, and you're blaming the one guy left manning the entire centre of the pitch for not being good enough?
