Why wouldn't you have a good go at both the EL and PL? Your first team is good enough to possibly go all the way in EL.
Should be able to get out of the group with a shadow squad. Can re-assess the situation as we go.
We played a reserve team in the Champions League group stages when we had "easy" opponents, so very likely we will do the same in the Europa. (even though we facked up with the weak line ups - this is Wenger afterall)

Bellerin at RB/RWB and Kola at LB/LWB would be the first change on my team sheet. I'd then drop Xhaka for reasons I dont need to repeat again.
Personally I would experiment with a 4-1-4-1 in training with a view to using it.against Bournemouth
Cech
Bellerin Holding/Mustafi Kos Monreal/Kolasinac
Coq
Walcott/other Ozil Ramsey Sanchez
Laca
And as for Akpom, he was so bad for Brighton last season it was embarrassing. He needs to be nowhere near playing for us at any level. Keeping him ahead of Campbell is criminal. Perez wanted to go and was treated badly so fair enough, but Campbell said he didnt want to be loaned out again. .
I watched some of Alexis last night - he's fit as a fiddle.
He's just playing in two sides where he is the main man. So inevitably he feels it doubly bad when they keep losing.
And because of the language/culture barrier we don't really know what he thinks.
For Bournemouth :
Cech, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette.
----------------------Cech---------------------
Bellerin---------Kos----Mustafi------Kola
-------------------Coq---Ramsay-----------
Welback---------------Ozil----------------Sanchez
--------------------------Lacazette------------------
Bench - Ospina, Walcott, Xhaka, Giroud, Holding, Monreal, Nelson.
Xhaka must be benched, he won't learn otherwise. Giving away 2 goals in back to back game is simply crazy. Monreal's form has also dipped so would bench him too. Get Coquelin in the mix up, get him some game time.
If Sanchez unable to start then Walcott should start and Sanchez on bench.
Good article.
Knowing Wenger though he won't bench his love child Ramsey and despite how poor Xhaka has been he will play.
Kola has to be wingback with Laca up front.
Whyalwaysme
No Coq for Bournemouth at home but I can see Wenger going for Coq/Xhaka at Chelsea.
A hard coq is always good to break the spine of the opposition.
Do we have any young left backs at all? I thought we may see a bit of Cohen Brammall this season on the fringes playing Europa League, League cup and maybe the odd FA cup game. Hopefully his loan at Birmingham is better for his development though.
Josh DaSilva has been playing there for the U23s. Not his normal role though.
Be interesting to see whether this is the week that the back three formation is binned.

This is our moment like Chelsea had when they got beaten 3-0 by us last season. Change the formation, win 13 in a row etc.

It seems the natural time to switch. If Mustafi is not considered first choice it is difficult to see who would be the best partner for Koscielny though.
Reckon there would be a huge possibility Wenger would go with Monreal
Holding doesn't seem ready to play in a 2, Mertesacker is on his last legs.

Xhakanilson makes him sound better than he is.

Does anyone know what happened to that kid from Poland? he was supposed to be ready for first team? guy who is DMF but used as CB by Wenger in friendly?
Bielik is injured. Had shoulder surgery last week. Out until December.

He has been used as a CB almost exclusively for the last couple of years, including his loan spell at Birmingham.

unless you remember Denilson....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think I'd prefer Denilson. At least he could keep up with players running past him, he just didn't tackle them.
I miss Rosicky.
Yes, he'd miss most of the season, but at least there was always the prospect of him returning and us playing good football for half a dozen games at the end of every season.
Mustafi is told he isn't good enough, yet he plays Monreal as a CB? Strange.
