No Cav up top?

I'll bet the fact that Danny has the armband won't make Coady any less vocal though. You can't keep a scouser quiet!!

Gem we can't have 8 on the bench, even if two of them are Ronan

Yeah, don't think the armband really makes much difference at this point, more just a hierarchy thing but smart from Nuno to keep it among the 'old' guard.

Is Eno's relegation to the bench Nono's first unforced decision to change the team in the league?

I think he just want's to give Marshall some minutes playing time. He will probably do the same with Zyro and Costa. Nuno has said he doesn't believe in injured players coming back and playing with the u23 squad, he wants them playing with their team mates.

Guess Douglas is still recovering g and assume Bennett has a knock not to make the bench.
.............
its clear that nuno rates batth as best replacement

In seat after nice pint of bfg in Lych Gate and Banks in busy North Bank Bar, well ready to shout the lads on

Batth is the club captain, so no real surprise he's got the armband. Surprised that Marshall starts ahead of Cavaleiro. He obviously has to up his game to get a start.

Don't see Costa or Zyro in the side until the next cup game either, when I'm sure they'll get some game time.

With regard to the discussion of the obsolescence of strikers, there could be something init.

I have often wondered whether there are, or have been, many natural strikers. Yes, there are exceptions, eg Shearer, Rooney or Bull, but for every Shearer there are players who have played as "strikers" and scored goals, more because they are played in that advanced position rather than any special talent.

Put many attacking minded players in the No. 9 position they are likely to pick up, say, a goal every 4 starts. I suspect someone like Neves would get 10 or more goals if played as a striker. Even someone like Doherty or Ward would likely pick up 6 or 8 goals a season with sufficient starts as a No. 9.

Then there is Dave Edwards . . .

Have said a few times I would have stuck Edwards up front, more use there than in midfield.
