3 winnable games

Was a decent result yesterday. Still gutted that for all the height in our team, we are losing out in our own box from basic set pieces and long balls, too regularly. The first half against Swansea was similar. Need to be better organised and braver in those situations.

I too want a big game.Really not sure where we stand at the moment even with the good start we've made.

Overall I thought we were very flat in the first half.Controlled the ball well but without making many openings. The second half was more hectic and scruffy yet we could and should have won it,either by holding onto the lead or Lukaku finishing off that chance.

And we obviously have width issues.Either with Valencia's final delivery,Darmian's lack of creative threat and Rashford's inexperience.

The defensive shape yesterday was also worrisome.

We aren't that good.

We needed to bring in a quality, experienced centre back and at least one good attacking fullback.

We did neither, so another season battling for top 4.

I wonder what the thinking was behind moving Rashford, and even having martial, at times, playing on the right?

Has Jose realised that crossing to lukaku might be a good plan B? Martial's cross was a beauty

No I want us battling to win the title, not to potentially scrape third or 4th, maybeiss out again...

We aren't good enough to make a title challenge, and with the money spent, the amount of weaknesses throughout our team is ridiculous.

All the top teams are showing weakness in certain areas Ron.

A battle for top four may well be not far off challlenging for the title this year.

Of course we're good enough to make a title challenge

No team in this league is perfect. We're no more imperfect than anyone else.

What are you basing of course on? Certainly not performances in recent seasons.

We aren't defensively good enough to challenge for the title, and we don't have the delivery in wide areas to hurt teams.

We won't finish above either City or Chelsea... the rest of the teams aren't great either, so we could scrape 3rd.

The irony is, the only reason people are saying we will challenge for the title is because of us beating relegation fodder in out first few games lol

I am basing my opinion on our performances over the last few seasons, and out transfer activity this summer.

There was nothing "indifferent" about drawing with Stoke, its par of the course if recent years lol

======

Again people looking purely at goals against and thinking that means we have good defenders.

Ill give you a clue, Liverpool could buy the best centre back in the world, and they wouldn't suddenly stop conceding.

The reason we had a good goals against last year, was because of how our team was set up to play, not because we have great centre backs.

The reason we scored less goals than Bournemouth and Everton was also down to the way we set up, not our attacking talent.

If we want to more goals, we have to play an attacking style. The problem is, our centre backs are prone to mistakes which is what cost us against Stoke.

How can you not look at the goals against? That is how it is measured.

Good grief.

I guess Ron doesn't think us having more clean sheets than any other side in the league in 2017 means anything

So if team Aset up to purely keep possession and keep men behind the ball all game... majority of games therefore would end up low scoring affairs.

And team B set up to score goals, thus throwing numbers forwards.. a lot of the games ending 3-1, 4-2 etc.

The first team suddenly has better defenders?

You really don't understand how tactics and team set up, can affect goals scored and goals conceded.

Good grief.

Ill give you a clue, we were set up like team A last season, which is why we struggled to score, but also didn't concede many, it wasn't because we have terrible attacking player, but amazing defenders.

Silly me, more clean sheets than anyone else means our defence is poor

Our attack is terrible.

Tactics in football don't matter.
