Said in the match thread he's starting to look like the £2Mil player we bought from Bolton. Surely Chambers can't be any worse at the moment as he did well for Middlesbrough last season.
Yeah he could do with some time out. Bring mertersaker in more in his place and have chambers play a few. It's Natural a young inexperienced player will have a dip in form, just need Wenger not to totally destroy his confidence now by continuing to pay him when he's off form
Dont forget Chambers did the same under Wenger. Looked good at first but wenger ruined him so he went out on loan and did far better under another manager and is now back again.
Holding will probably do the same, not live up to the original expectations, go out on loan and come back much improved after playing under another manager..
I think it's a little harsh to blame Holding.
He's used to playing alongside Koscielny. Mertesacker is a completely different type of player
Wenger seems to have a problem with dropping players. He lets them get to the point where they look a shell of their former self before he takes them out. Seems with Wenger once you've had 4/5 good games you're in the team indefinitely.
The adrenaline a young player has during their first games gives them an edge. After that wears off it's a struggle.
The same thing often happens to players coming back from long term injuries.

Hasn't been a couple of average games. He's been comfortably our worst performer every time he's played and we've had some poor performers this season.
He showed last season he has potential to be a decent player. Best take him out of the firing line for now to protect whatever slither of confidence he has left in him
At his best for us, he's been decent, nothing more.
Generally, he's looked weak, sloppy, and positional out of place. He got mega hype after we beat Chelsea in the cup final, but I don't think he played well then either.
It's hard to judge defenders under Wenger, but I'll call it and say holding won't amount to anything as long as arsene is in charge.
Hopeless defending by Holding I really rated him, I hope he comes good one day.
Wenger has become a virus that will ruin everything he touches including the young talented players...who all regress once coming to Arsenal..nowadays
Perhaps he believes in his own hype that he's better than Cannavaro?

Don't recall Rice being any different. Wenger is power hungry with a massive ego, he probably doesn't allow Bould to have any real input. The way he shot down Gazidis for talking about bringing in a DOF suggests he wants complete control of everything.

For the money he's on I would take that.
Whats the defence performances got to do with Holding? We have been just as bad with Mustafi etc. Its the fecking formation. Been saying from last season this entire for formation is a nonsense. Bin it.
We're crap at defending with three at the back, and we're crap at defending with four at the back.
It's been the case that defenders haven't improved under Wenger for quite some time. Not in terms of their defensive ability, at least.
