Let's see if Arsenal fans are so happy to face Lukaku once they've played him in a red shirt....

I imagine, like countless other strikers for our club, he'll make them his bittch

Certainly much better all round than Zlatan if last season.
----------------------------

Nonsense. Ibra is a far superior footballer.

you clearly didnt watch zlatan last season then.

his touch is atrocious - reminded me wayne rooney the past few years

But I thought he "gets the reds excited"?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He does when he scores

Haven't you heard?
We're trading in Sanchez and Ozil for some Matic types.
I 8-2 tell you!

Odd comment for a player who has won virtually nothing.

hmmmm.... odd comment considering he's won the same amount of premier league titles as your club

There's more to come from him, yes.

I think that barring any injury concerns he'll hit 40 goals in all comps this season.

posted on 18/9/17

I agree with most on here that he's pile old sh&te but he will get you goals

posted on 18/9/17

He actually has a far better shot accuracy this season than Harry 'best striker in the world' Kane

Cool. When did he win those?

Lukaku may well improve on the ball as he gets older but he's technically not great and I expect him to lose possession more often than not with the ball at his feet outside of scoring opportunities.

But he's what we needed for now - someone who can stick the ball away and he's doing just that. So no issues from me.

You should read a sports paper or something... Last season and 2014/2015

You seem to have jumped on my post without thinking about the previous comments... The Arsenal guy was discussing buying a Matic type player...

I guess you got a bit over excited... Not to worry.

Between dealing with these simpletons and conversing with Stretty, I really feel that some of us should be getting recognition for our care in the community work.

My feeling about Lukaku so far is that he looks like he might well fulfil an important function but he's not going to be a player that I particularly enjoy watching. Obviously, there are trade-offs worth making between functionality and aesthetics and I'm certainly not a purist in this respect, but I'd like it if by far the most expensive striker in our club's history had a bit more subtlety and technical finesse about his game. (That's not to paint Lukaku as a donkey. I liked the decisive unselfishness and weight of pass for Mkhitaryan yesterday and some creative contributions in the CL.) On balance I reckon I'd still have preferred Morata, who would have scored fewer goals but perhaps played in a team where Rashford and Martial end up scoring more than they will this season.

this was my thinking too.... Though when you saw how 3 Everton defenders moved towards him in the build up to the Mkhi goal, you can see how he might be vital in creating space for other players... If a Morata type is not as lethal, the opposition defenders are going to be less unnerved and less likely to lose their position

Simpletons?! How rude. Where you from? Stoke? You should be used to dealing with simpletons without expecting recognition for it.

Was that Lukaku sowing panic or symptomatic of the general ineptness of the Everton defence yesterday - exacerbated at that moment by being on the back foot after the ball was gifted to us as they looked to build from the back? That's not a rhetorical question. Maybe you're right. But I do have the feeling that his lack of finesse might mean Lukaku doesn't make the difference quite so often against the best teams. Will he perhaps elevate us a few places in the league without taking us quite to the heights we aspire to? Time will tell.

Lukaku has a pretty decent record in big games to be fair. Better than people think

1 in 1 against Real
5 in 12 against Liverpool
5 in 13 against City

And that's (the last two) with poorer service then he got at West Brom and Everton

This season so far he's got a better shots to goals ratio than Aguero, Jesus, Kane and Lacazette so he's also not some miss machine either
