I think the consensus is that repetitive references and comparisons to previous managers and teams are tedious in the extreme.

100% agree. I will engage in any discussions, which are inevitable, but otherwise we should deal with the here and now.
Wasn't the best thread I admit, but I've still got the minerals to lead us forward lads,
have faith in Halfy .....yes ?

Kevin Doyle has announced his retirement following medical advice after suffering from repeated headaches after heading the ball.
Hope his health isn't adversely affected through this. Was a top player for us when he arrived and seems like a thoroughly nice bloke.
That's exactly what I thought Tamworth
Interesting.
I wonder if playing in the USA and following on from the huge scandal involving head trauma in the NFL led to his digging deeper into this?

What a lovely contrast to Perton's assessment on his own thread.
Good luck to Doyle.

The NFL covered up findings of the damage concussions and head injuries could do to athletes, of 115 tested after death 114 showed advanced signs of damage. A movie was made recently, it is a big issue in the USA and doctors will be looking for such things, I wonder if he would never have received the same advice in the UK.
They are making a big deal out of head injuries and concussions here now too. There was talk of not allowing children to play contact rugby only last week.

Glad that it is finally being exposed for what it is and glad that they are being boycotted over their pathetic virtue signalling.

It was individual players protesting, not the NFL. They have a right to protest against things they see as wrong and there are clear racial issues in the US, as there have been throughout history. Just because you may disagree, doesn't mean they should not be able to do it and boycotting a sport because of it, is pretty pathetic.
Trumps words about sacking any players who do not stand for the national anthem, calling them 'sons of b*tches' is the only wrong doing. I hope every NFL player takes a knee for the national anthem in this weeks games.
Interested to read a tweet Trump posted while he was campaigning to be president when he said he will always support the right of Americans to protest even if it's about something he disagrees with
With regard to Kevin Doyle I thought he was our best player during our last spell in the Premier League and hopefully the problems he has been having that caused him to retire won't affect his life now he has stopped playing
It speaks volumes that the only sport that is supporting Trump's statement is NASCAR.
The main reason he refuses to condemn white supremacists is that he knows the areas where they are most prominent are the areas where he gets his core support and the majority of his funding.
Ironic the other night that most Wolves fans that travelled to Bramall Lane by coach did so in the vehicles of Leon's Coach Company

I really liked Kevin Doyle. Thought he was a top player and if he could have added a few more goals to his game, probably would have ended up at a much bigger club than us.
I find the comments by Perton and even Cinci to an extent who joined in and encouraged, a bit distasteful on the other thread. Even when I think of players I have disliked the most in recent years at the club (i.e. Leon Clarke, Roger Johnson etc.), I wouldn't wish any of them to have to retire due to health concerns from playing the game and wouldn't try to take any joy out of it if they did.
The match thread can be the hub of many great debates, a place for jubilation or home of many vented spleen. It can withstand banter, pisstake and ridicule. It is even the den of Bute's constant goading of our American guests.
But if you want to discuss USA sports such as w@nkers rugby, rounders or netball you can feck right off and do it somewhere else!
I trust the above is absolutely clear ?
