I think we would have won a European Cup earlier an certainly a few league titles.
We were unlucky to be playing at the same time as a very good Real side who were just a bit too experienced for us. I like to think as that Real side declined and we got more experienced we’d have won a cup or two.
There were other good sides like Benfica and Milan but we could have been special.
Would have almost certainly been the first British team to have won the old European Cup.

If Munich never happened Bobby Moore would have had just a handful of England Caps at best. And none as captain.

Firstly I have the upmost respect for those Man U players who lost theirs lives and for the way the club came back from adversity.
However the Celtic team of 67 were better and proved it by consistently competing for the European Cup until 1974. After 68 Man U went into a downward sprial that ended with relegation.

United nearly won it again in 1969 if it wasn't for a very dodgy goal line decision against Denis Law in the semi final leg at Old Trafford (against the team that eliminated Celtic in an earlier round).

I dnt understand what that has to do with the players that made up most of the first team 10years earlier, no ones saying the team in 68 if formed 10years earlier would have been the 1st british team to win the EC

Celtic lost to Kiev and Utd lost to Real (no corupt seeding in those days). Celtic went on to the final again in 1970, semi-final in 72 and 74
Not really classy.
It well before my time and all that... but it's pretty well accepted that the Busby Babes would have won the European Cup if Munich hadn't have happened.. which would have meant them winning it before Celtic did in 67.Obviously.
Its just disrespectful to United and the players to argue differently. As you are doing right now.
Why have you introduce Celtic into this thread anyway?

Sadly we will never know. It's too hard to say that they would have been more successful. Some of the most talented players have won little or nothing over the years. There's no telling what that utd fan would have won.

this is pointless. I'll leave it with this thought - the Munich team were no doubt a great team and unfrotunately never got to fulifl their potential. Enjoy your CL game tonight.
Given the average age of that United side and the fact they were already reaching European Cup semis in 58, I think they would almost certainly have won a European Cup before '67. They may well have won it in 58 and I'd have been surprised if they didn't take the trophy by 1960
