When Lallana is fit it’s a straight choice out of Henderson and Dier. Need someone in there who can not only retain the ball but link the midfield and attack.

I watched your game last night for about five minutes before deciding that I fancied watching a game of football instead. So, I switched over to watch us playing Slovakia. What a game! End to end, flat out, hardly any walking, passing sideways and backwards, a la LFC, their goalie playing out of his skin, their crossbar almost MOTM (for me, Robertson, by a country mile), and then in the 88th minute, Martin S scoring an own goal. Like I said, what a game.

And not a single paper airplane in sight.

But to return to your game, did AOC achieve anything good? In my heart of hearts I want to see him do good for us, but I've yet to see it.

Lallana is desperately missed, and it speaks volumes for the state of English football that if Wilshere gets a run of games, he has to be in contention.

We need a quality DCM. Henderson not good enough at Prem level. You see how he has been found out in CL

So if he's been found out at CL level why does that not make him good enough at PL level?

God help us if we play Hends, Dier, Ox and Lallana in Russia.

I used to want this formation but don't think we have the midfielders to play this. Our defence is actually reasonably strong and reckon we need only 4 back there and overload midfield.

It is impossible to win anything with this group of players. Half of them are losers at club level let alone international level

It’s been impossible to win anything with any group of players since 1966. England have not been amongst the favourites since 1970, as far as I can work out.

After every game, we dust off our expertise and experience, and play the pretend-game of imagining England would be better if different players were picked, a different manager was appointed, a different formation was used.

But the end-result is always sheite.
At least they qualified this time. There’ve been a number of WCs and Euros where they didn’t even manage that.
