In a scrappy game of mistakes bookings and deflected own goals etc, I though Hugill's goal was absolute quality finish !
they had us on the ropes that last half hour halfy
Don't think we should come to any strongly negative conclusions from yesterday. We won, in awful conditions, with a terrible referee, against one of the current best teams in the league. Like Bristol, Preston played a high pressing game and were very physical. Unlike the game v Bristol, we soaked it up first half then got ahead through 20 minutes of great play.
Two moments of poor defending cost us and made it a nervy last 15 but with a little luck or slightly better quality from costa and particularly eno we'd have killed it off on the break. Or if the ref had cracked down on Preston earlier meaning every other one of our counter attacks weren't stopped by trips or wrestling.
Odd to look at the foreign signings as struggling in the wintery conditions. It was Batth's loss of concentration that set up the difficult end to the game. And Douglas/coady/miranda who conspired for the second. Jota looked as good as ever but with no protection from the ref for our front three we were never going to be quite as effective. I could have seen us scoring twice as many, which wasn't bad for a game we never really hit our best form in.
You lazy git Gem. I got up at 3am, took the memsahib to MCO and just called my brother as it's his birthday today. Going fro spend the next few hours watching footie and then to the gym.
Great thread as usual Sir Halfy. Not sure how you keep it up. (oooh matron)
Good analysis gb. I think Coady was unlucky with the own goal, but Batth went to sleep with their first, which tells me he'll be the one to give way when Boly returns to full fitness.
I think the standard f refereeing in this division is pretty poor and should be addressed by the F.A.
Reenie. Do keep up old chap. I posted those highlights 13 hours before your one, plus the goals from England's U17 Q-F win over the USA in their WC match.
We're certainly getting better (or luckier depending on your point of view) at counter-acting the more physical teams.
We lost against Cardiff, drew against Bristol and beat Preston. We were also dominant and thrashed Burton who it was said would also employ strong-arm tactics against us.
Agree with what's been said about needing to manage games better. Also, NES has generally been very good with his subs, however there has been some criticism with bringing on Costa and Eno yesterday rather than more defensive substitutes when trying to protect a 3-0 lead.
All part of the learning-curve I guess.

Is your point that I should have gone back over every post to check?
I have a life away from here and posted in case some had not seen them. I didn't force anyone to view the highlights again, had they already watched them.
Just in case anybody hasn't seen the highlights:

Costa needs more game time and Eno does have pace, so I'm sure Nuno brought them on for those reasons. If there are some who are starting to criticize our coach, please point then out, in order for the majority of us who agree with what Nuno is doing, can try and put them straight.
Feel free to have your life away from here and come back with your next Only Fools and Horses 'handle'.
By the way, it's normal, in line with the banter that goes on on here, to make fun when someone posts a duplicate remark. Don't be so touchy.
Nice on Herbie.
I think Sir Halfy will have fun when I post the latest table.
Iorfa on the bench today.

I'm worried as well. Got a feeling he meant that I got three or less points.
With one more game to go for this round, both Sir Halfy and moi are leading with 19 points.

Don't care about that. Have I got more than 3 points?
You'd better hope today's game ends in a 1-1 draw Herbie.
1-1 today would be ideal for me
