Absolutely Biggish, 69 and myself were discussing it after the game yesterday. We lost total control of it for vast periods of the game yesterday.
A two man central midfield can't afford to carry Fabregas and Bakayoko also had a poor game.
Lose the CM and you risk losing the game - and it almost cost us yesterday in a game we didn't deserve to win, especially by two goals, which flattered us as far as I'm concerned!
That said it was a relief when Bats equalised!
Weird game for me Brummie.
You may not agree, but I though we played our best football in the first 25 or 30 minutes, but after that I thought we were rubbish. Even in the last twenty I thought we were nothing special.
And Baka had a total mare, he made Fabregas look like a God
I'd say the 1st 15/20 minutes we looked ok Biggish and then came back into it in the last 15.
Yesterday was a day we could have done with still having Matic!

I know...i was thinking the same and I am now desperate for Drinkwater to get fit
I'm expecting more bad days from Bakayoko but have high hopes for him. I really don't know how long we can carry Fabregas though!
the one player we Arent carrying at the moment is Pedro. I think hes been our best buy for many seasons, when hazards good hes unplayable but when hes not hes way below average. i can count on one hand the bad games Pedro has had. oppos are prepared to let willian run with the ball coz they know he has very little end product. Pedro will hurt others time and time again anywhere within 30 yards hes looking for the net.
Vava I agree with you and I love Pedro.
The common denominator when we get overrun in midfield like that - is Fabregas. Whether it's Matic, Bakayoko, or even Kante in a 2 man midfield - we can't afford to have Fabregas unless we have 2 additional midfield players with him. He just doesn't have the legs. Unfortunately, he seems to be the only fit midfield player right now, although I use the "fit" very loosely. He runs more than any other player - but just very very slowly.
The common denominator when we get overrun in midfield like that - is Fabregas.

It amazes me the number of people that can't fathom that out though!
In fairness though yesterday, Baka was miles worse than Fabregas

Agreed Biggish, but Bakayoko may not play that badly for a while but with Fabregas it's time and again.
Fabregas had his best season with us as an impact sub and that's what we need to do with him this season too.
Another thing that bugs me as well, is when we take Dave out of the back three and use him as a RWB when Moses is unavailable.
Dave is one of the best defenders in the PL and when he's in the back three we generally look fine. Take him out and we're much more pourous.
As a WB, going forward and acting as a winger is part of your game and not really what Dave's about - so why weaken the defence?
If we continually do that, apart from weaken us, it begs the question - why did we spend £20m + on Zappacosta?
I agree with that too Brummie
Perhaps we'd make a good managerial team Biggish!

But what alternative is there, all well and good playing armchair manager but who else can play there. he tried Luiz last week that went down like a lead balloon, baka is carrying an injury but has to play.

Luiz scored a cracking goal in that game and we were 2-1 up when he was subbed off.
I sat at MHL against vs Watford. The liquadator song was being played, when I heard the most cringiest feminine voice coming out of a bloke next to me who was about 7 foot tall. I was struggling to hold my laughter. It was so funny.
Back to the topic. Agree with Bigish here. I think we need to push Luiz to midfield and groom Christensen in Luiz's role.

Christensen is a great defender, and I have no problem playing him there in place of Luiz if necessary. But I think Luiz proved against Roma that he is not a midfield player. We need our actual midfielders fit again.

I think we all know the answer to this Brummie - it was our annual panic buy when we failed in our attempts to get the first five people on our list. I'm not saying Zappacosta is bad - but he's not as good as any of the players Conte actually wanted.
