I liked Martin Lewis’s view on Black Friday:
If you really wanted the item you’ve saved 50%
If you didn’t really want it you’ve lost 100%
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. I had to explain that to my wife a few years ago.
I actually use the Black Friday sales, but I have a list of things I want to buy that I have built up over the last few months and will just monitor prices.

The effects of Brexit are weighing on Britain's economy, more than six years after voters decided to leave the European Union, Bank of England officials said on Wednesday.
"It's undeniable now that we're seeing a much, much bigger slowdown in trade in the UK compared to the rest of the world," Swati Dhingra said in response to a question about Brexit from a lawmaker on parliament's Treasury Committee.
"There's also the services exports side ... there again, we're seeing a really strong stagnation. We're definitely performing below trend in terms of the exports numbers, in terms of the imports, even probably a bit bigger than that."
Catherine Mann, another member of the BoE's Monetary Policy Committee, said small firms were being hit hardest by Brexit due to the extra paperwork required for exporters and importers which was also adding to inflation

Agreed.... they will do some cuts before the election but it will be Labour's time
- Campaign group Hope Not Hate records 182 separate visits from ‘anti-immigration activists’ to migrant accommodation sites in 2022, involving asylum seekers and security staff being harassed and filmed
- Then a couple of weeks ago a right wing terrorist firebombs an immigration processing centre in Dover, Kent, threatening the lives of occupants and staff
- The Refugee Council then writes to the Commons Speaker urging him to ask MPs not to identify hotels being used to house asylum applicants, as the safety of occupants and staff is clearly at risk
- Tory MP Lee Anderson’s response: “I am sick and tired of seeing our hospitality abused and people who are simply economic migrants cheating our system via small boats and dodgy human rights legislation. I will not be silenced and will name and shame these greedy hotel owners."
- Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith’s response: "I will not be silenced and will use the privileges given to me as a Member of Parliament to continue to speak out on this issue."
Rayner was absolutely correct. These people are imhuman scuuuuuum.
He’s actually right about hotel owners though.
It's government policy to use hotels, far be it from me to back up hotel owners but what are they doing wrong? You'd have thought a capitalist would applaud a business money making opportunity.
