Sad thing is if we had a referendum on capital punishment the country would probably vote yes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably, I'd like to think that the Brexit vote would have changed the feelings over facts decisions of the electorate but I know that's a pipe dream.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be the ultimate litmus test on the state of British society
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just think of all the three word slogans.

if its used against the likes of jimmy saville etc etc, thats fine by me
guess im a monster
or just put them in with gen pop, that can be there punishment, dont protect them.
Society is still not mature enough to understand that justice is not the same as vengeance. Introduce capital punishment and that difference between justice and vengeance will never be understood.

Not a monster, just giving in to a primal instinct.
They're not the ones being protected, the other prisoners are. Murdering Saville or whomever would still be murder, still a life sentence, you wouldn't get a special dispensation because you killed a beast, not worth it.
Nonces having to live with knowingly being despised by everyone they ever interact with, having every meal spat and pizzed in and the constant fear being attacked or worse at any moment is, imo, better than giving them a get out of jail free at the end of a noose card.

Likewise, I don't think prisons are much to do with empathy or rehabilitation - many are appeased by subjecting criminals to awful and inhumane living conditions.
Capital punishment on the other hand, can cause social unrest and disobedience, especially with public executions. Prisons instead offer society more cohesion, stability and a tool to study the behaviours of criminality.
I highly doubt the only reason we do not execute people, is because society is more caring and empathetic. I think its highly complicated to be honest.
This isn't counting in the fact that modern capital punishment is highly expensive and takes an enormous amount time to do. In fact I remember reading a study somewhere, stating that through the lengthy legal process, families of victims are worse off emotionally, when compared with giving life imprisonment.

Their wage should be under a triple lock.
Equal to the lowest rise in either:
Average public sector wage rise
Raise in the minimum wage
National average wage rise.
