Tina Knight, chair of Women in Business, reveals the real reason for the Dover queues. It’s the French, who’ve been trying to get their revenge for Agincourt (which took place 608 years ago, 14 years before France defeated England in the 100 Years War).

Britain is officially a third world cesspit.
An elderly woman who refused to put her heating on due to "fears of high energy bills" died after suffering from profound hypothermia, an inquest has heard.
Barbara Bolton, 87, ignored the pleas of her family to put the heating on at her terraced house in Bury, Greater Manchester, the hearing was told.
Medics found Mrs Bolton had a body temperature of just 28C, compared with the normal 37C.

Can someone explain how it discriminates against poor/young/minorities when you can get an election ID card for free? Tbh though we should just make passports free.

Because young people are less likely to have any ID. If you provide more steps and requirements to be able to vote for the first time (basically make it harder), you're more likely to disenfranchise them and they won't bother.
Older generations are more likely to already have multiple ID which you naturally accumulate over time, so are less likely to be put out by its introduction.
Maybe to make it fair, as well as requiring ID to be able to register, we should make all applications to register and the voting process be online; so the elderly are equally put out.

Apply for photo ID to vote
It’s free to apply. You’ll need:
a recent, digital photo of yourself
your National Insurance number

No more stupid than requiring ID to stop a problem that doesn't exist, at great expense to the tax payer.
I guarantee that voter ID stops more people voting than cases of voter fraud it prevents.

Maybe. In your defence I doubt that you, like most people including myself, were aware that if you don’t have photo ID you can still apply with all needed being your NI number and a digital photo. Which, let’s be honest is a peace of pishe to do for young people.
