Rishi Sunak, "New licenses are consistent with transitioning to net zero."

Andrew Forrest (net worth $19 billion), "If the UK backs fossil fuels, I'll push my investments to North America. I invest where there is proper leadership, not leadership in a clickbait cycle."

We’ve taken the decision today to close our business’s Twitter account.

This was the last straw:

‘Twitter accused of bullying anti-hate campaigners’

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-66365968

CCDH is a brilliant group, which has done fantastically important work in surfacing the failures of the digital giants to protect kids from all manner of harmful content, and tackle neo-Nazzzi propaganda, medical misinformation, greenwashing and other issues.

Space Karen has now set his legal orcs on them, made serious and completely unsubstantiated allegations about the organisation, and called the CEO a “rat”; all because they dared to report research demonstrating the massive rise in hate speech since he took control of Twitter.

(I’m not sure what he thought would happen when he decided to give a bunch of internationally proscribed organisations and neo-Nazzzis, for example, amnesties, and quite why he’s throwing his toys out of the pram given the inevitable result. But he hasn’t always demonstrated the most rational of thought processes.)

If the ‘free speech extremism’ wasn’t bad enough, this latest bullying of a campaign group purely focussed on making the internet a safer place to be - particularly for kids - is beyond the pale.

I hope CCDH sue, SK is taken to the cleaners, and Twitter continues its desperate spiral down the toilet bowl.

The UK will retain the EU’s product safety mark indefinitely, in the latest climbdown from proposed post-Brexit changes, after the government bowed to pressure from industry and manufacturers.

The CE (Conformité Européenne) mark is used by the bloc to certify that a wide range of items – from electrical goods and construction materials to medical devices and toys – meet safety standards.

So then, we left the big boys club where we had all the candy we wanted to end up being a rule taker by them. What a shambles we are.

People earning as much as £30,000 are being told they don't have enough money to qualify for so-called affordable rent schemes in London.

Under the deals, renters on lower incomes should be able to secure homes at rates below market value.

But the BBC has found that some landlords insist on applicants earning between £35,000 and £60,000 to stand any chance of being accepted.

America is truly lost when that large percentage of the population still can't see Trump for the con man he is.

It's cult like, and I'm not sure how you even change it.

Fair enough. It wasn’t really being serious but it’s not like Biden is a great or competent president.

For all the bluster and crazy words, actual daily life in the USA and in fact around the world was relatively calm compared to most modern presidents. People get far too hung up on what he says instead of what actually transpires.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His personal conduct was an all-out disgrace. That matters for the president of the world's leading power.

He spent four years doing all he could to undermine faith in the country's justice and electoral systems.

He was impeached and saved only by political grace.

He oversaw the longest government shutdown in US history.

He suggested that people use FACKING BLEACH medically to protect against COVID-19.

He suggested that vaccines cause autism.

Keystone XL.

He called far right protestors "very fine people". That was "just words", yes. But those kind of words, coming from the president of the nation, matter.

He withdrew from the Paris Agreement.

He stopped funding for the UN Population Fund.

He completely normalised the presidential office lying to the public.

This list could go on forever. Literally the worst president in US history singly in terms of the impacts of him platforming and legitimising the extreme right, propounding myriad conspiracy theories, the damage he's done to the public's faith in key institutions protecting democracy, the division his phoney culture wars have created, and his normalisation of sexxual assault.

I'm no fan of Biden. At all. And I probably wouldn't be able to bring myself to vote for him. But he's an incomparably better option than Trump.
