He made a statement last week correcting it.
I've always said that the biggest threat to Labour winning an election is themselves. No matter who is the leader, one of the factions within the party will always try to undermine and sabotage them.
The factions all scream foul when it is a leader they like, but then just do it themselves as soon as someone else takes over.
It would be peak Labour to be at 47% in the polls then shoot themselves in the face

Keir posted the pic late on the 22nd, with follow ups on 23rd lunchtime. Note that he didn’t actually tag anyone in the thread. The statement from the Mosque came on the 24th. Thus the “3 days later narrative” is a bit disingenuous given the statement was about not just the “late notice” but also the misrepresentstion. I don’t think that’s a hugely unreasonable timeline for a response to Keir’s misrepresentation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've not said they're unreasonable, I just think the timing of the statement suggests they're responding to the backlash which they themselves mention
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still wouldn't mean what they're saying isn't true. Perhaps they were just gonna let it slide but Starmer had to open his big mouth and cause the backlash?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what he said
"I was grateful to hear from the Muslim community of the South Wales Islamic Centre.
I repeated our calls for all hostages to be released, more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, for the water and power to be switched back on, and a renewed focus on the two state solution.
I was questioned by members and I was deeply moved to hear their pain and horror at the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
I made clear it is not and has never been my view that Israel had the right to cut off water, food, fuel or medicines. International law must be followed.
That’s why we urgently need more aid and utilities to get in to Gaza.
We know this is not a new crisis. There has been a failure of international politics for decades. We don’t want to see any further loss of innocent life, Israeli or Palestinian."
What a horrible b*stard
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never said anything about Starmer. My query was about your statement about the Mosque's reaction which for me was quite a jump to make.
This is really tedious
Your comment said "Perhaps they were just gonna let it slide but Starmer had to open his big mouth and cause the backlash?"
