One for you Satters;
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/09/head-of-unwra-says-he-followed-reverse-due-process-in-sacking-accused-gaza-staff
Now what was it you were saying?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's rather telling that the Israelis vetted all these employees of UNWRA themselves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, as was noted in the channel 4 report that our esteemed comrade may not have found the 8 minutes to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now what was it that I was saying?
I think you’ll find that your esteemed comrade said that it was strange, which it is. Drop the attitude bro, I quite clearly said that I wasn’t privy to the facts.
I did click to watch the C4 video but it wanted me to login etc so I didn’t bother. The chief has confirmed what said, do you want a medal or is the confirmation sufficient?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“If you believe that they sacked 9 people with no cause whatsoever in order to protect their cause then that’s fine. I find that harder to believe but I haven’t had time to watch the programme you encouraged me to watch, which I will do later that may or may not change my mind on the probabilities.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How can you reasonably have an issue with this statement?
Regardless of the circumstances, it is indisputably strange to sack 9 people without cause. I called it a risky strategy which you tried to dispute, but I was clearly correct as the strategy failed miserably as many countries withdrew their funding anyway. Only after that does the chief of the organisation in question then say that they fired people without cause.
I would have suspended said persons, investigated and then after nothing came from that investigation, then issued a suitable statement. Which is what most organisations do. Sacking people knowingly without cause, is very strange.
As for the Israeli accusations, I’ve never even bothered to read them as it’s quite likely to be biased to fook. The only thing that ever caught my eye with this was the sacking of personnel.

Fack off, Labour have been all over the place from this from the start. The correct thing to have done right form the beginning was to call for an immediate ceasefire, instead of flip flopping and seeing where the wind takes them. Conducting polls on Muslims to see if their flip flopping was pisssing them off or not. No one forgets Keith supporting the cutting of water and food for the Palestinians at the beginning too.
At one point the Tories went left of them on the matter when Cameron actually went out and said they support the establishment of a Palestinian state once the war is over. They’re a joke.
