NEW Constituency Poll in Islington North for @LeftieStats and @novaramedia.

LAB 43% (-22)
IND 29% (new)
LD 7% (-8)
GRE 7% (-1)
REF 6% (+5 from Brexit Party)
CON 6% (-4)
OTH 2% (+2)

F/w 20th - 25th June. Changes vs. Notional 2019 result

Keith in the bin, hope Jezza does a deal with the Libs and Greens
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Doesn't that show Corbyn in the bin if anything?

He's meant to be a great local MP who's been there for 40 years. If even his own constituents are leaning Labour then that's not a good sign for him personally.

Labour is 22 points down on their 2019 vote share, so Keith in the bin yes.

They still win comfortably on that poll and Corbyn ends up without a seat. He likely won't run next time, so the Labour lead will be restored.

It definitely isn't Labour in the bin. They will likely be pleased with that poll.

5 killed in Kenya anti tax protests. I posted about this a while back and nobody even commented.

Current President campaigned on reduced taxes, but inherited massive debt which was due this year. To avoid defaulting they approached the Bretton Woods institutions which have ordered them to raise taxes and do a whole lotta sheet that will fack that country for decades to come, or they won't help them.

These IMF austerity conditions have led to what we're seeing now, whole country is on fire, parliament and other places overrun by Gen Z youths and set on fire, army called to help the police in the streets.

Some probably don't care, but Kenya has absorbed millions of refugees and asylum seekers and still has another 1 million or so in refugee camps which sometimes the west refuses to help fund.

You will start caring when Kenya gets so facked that instead of absorbing refugees, they also start producing displaced persons to come here and take rrrrr jobs. You'll be coming out to take back rrrrr country.

The West is intentionally and knowingly facking up the rest of the world either through wars or economic sabotage and has been doing that for all of recent history.

Economic systems and conditions like in Kenya leads to the flow of money and resources away from poorer countries to sustain and replenish the west.

When you point this out you are accused of hating the west while being told that the poor countries are unable to govern themselves and were better off under white rule.

Not yet Uhuru for the people, because whereas they were granted political independence, they will never really escape the shadow of western hegemony and the west will never let them escape.

This is what I mean when I say we need to start building the world we say we want to build.

Anyone that takes a close look will see that our actions don't match up to our rhetoric. We didn't need to fack Kenya like this. They were actually coming up very well, an island of peace in a sea of war, and a beacon of hope for that region politically and economically.

If we wanted to fix the world like we say we do, and stop the boats, we should be helping them, not facking them in the ass. The west act like loan sharks and devour these countries then wonder why everyone is turning to China.

African countries have to often pay 8 times more than their western counterparts when they borrow money. Where is the logic in making poorer countries pay more interest than rich countries?

There is a great opportunity to develop further and improve that whole region, reduce poverty and improve education and health, but that would actually help them, when what we want is to only look like we're helping them so people can be happy and live satisfied knowing that our country is the good guys helping all these poor countries.

African leaders were notorious for pocketing aid money and WB loans in the past, that is probably the reason institutions are cautious about lending money now

posted on 26/6/24

Logic has never followed in money lending. Poor people generally have to pay a higher APR on any loans or credit. It's done to keep them in debt and allow the creditors to keep pocketing interest payments.

That doesn't explain the conditions forced on Kenya by the west. No need for that when it will clearly leave the country economically worse. I thought we wanted to help these countries, instead we started facking them in the ass when we made them agricultural economies under colonisation instead of technological ones, then the day after we granted them independence we come back to Europe and make agricultural subsidies the policy so that we crushed their economies before they even started.

We have sabotaged them economically throughout if you cared to actually look. Corruption is rife because teg system doesn't work for the community, it works for the individual and for the person. There is insufficient hope or faith in society to make people sacrifice for the greater good

They could have easily stopped this money from being pocketed but didn't. They want it pocketed so they can have the country at their mercy.

Even the loan they are paying now, most of it was pocketed by the former administration and they all knew it was being pocketed and did and said fack all, preferring to wait until they come running with their begging bowl.

Similar concept to what happened here with the water companies. Pay dividends and leave massive debts which they know tax players will have to settle through high taxes while they ride away into the sunset.

China is gonna end up owning Africa the way things are going, building and seizing key infrastructure and ports when they can't repay loans. Already happening.

Only for a determined period of time though. They have to return the infrastructure after dents are paid and the Africans will still have gained the infrastructure in the end.

China is still ripping them off too, but still a better option than the west. Furthermore, China don't make political demands and treat people like children.

posted on 26/6/24

We are basically helping China in every way possible, even pushing African countries towards them. Kenya has Chinese debts as we speak and I've never seen the country burning because of China.

China would never allow it to go that far. They will always renegotiate and save your ass and so even though the deal still isn't fair, China is much preferable.

Competition between the west and China, the fight for influence, could lead to better conditions for the Africans as they struggle to outdo each other. Right now China are pounding the west badly, the west is doing nothing about it, and then complaining about the rise of China.

Meanwhile, the right wing in UK wats us to focus on ourselves and leave the rest, so hat we won't even know what hit us.

Nearly all the major problems in this country cannot be solved by focusing internally.

We need to take our place at the international table and push for things that will help us and the world at large.

I wish Corbyn had won.

Fack the right the facking mofos.

Don't exaggerate and be dramatic like that. China is in no way, shape or form worse or more dangerous than the west for Africa. Africa has looked to the west for decades and have next to nothing to show for it except the flow of wealth and resources from Africa to the West.

Think of it like having to chose between Reform and the Tories.

China is plundering Africa for its resources and isn’t shy about using Child Labour in the process

posted on 26/6/24

Furthermore, countries like the USA are more indebted to China and have infrastructure like sea ports as some sort of security, very complex deals so going by your logic China considers parts of the USA as part of it's empire.

Right wingers in USA are scaremongering that China will soon own the USA so it's nothing new when it happens in Africa.

Are you capable of saying the same about the West? The West been plundering Africa for centuries. China has done literally nothing in comparison and faces more criticism than the west ever has, criticism coming from the west. You couldn't make it up. China will see it as jealousy because they've managed to get in on the act against the West's wishes. The West's monopoly broken.
