Dear Rachel

Taxing capital gains on main residences would have gone some way to redressing the disgusting amount of wealth inequality in this Country.

But like every right wing chancellor for the past 2 decades you've left alone the trillions of printed money that's sitting in the tax free investment vehicle known as the housing market while distracting everyone with bullsheet taxes that you claim are about fairness.

The only high ranking MP that's understood this is Vince Cable. Please go and talk to him before the pound ends up below $1.

Yours sincerely, a left winger.

(The other seven are Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Argentina and South Korea. Fack them all.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Self interest at heart as always. It’ll never change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are going to get the legislation, though. Thankfully, there are no bullshiiit powers of veto in the General Assembly, so a (what will be a landslide) majority vote will carry it.

Whilst those countries listed above have voted against it, *even the governments of tax havens* aren’t trying to block it, which speaks volumes as to who really benefits from offshoring capital and trying to drive corporation taxes even further down, and to the motives of those governing in the Anglosphere powers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The way BRICS is going it will soon be the world vs the west in an economic showdown. It will mark a significant shift in the global economy.

Champion opposed a national inquiry last week: “With the best will in the world—you all know me; I am not making a party political point—another inquiry will mean another 10 years of waiting.”

Seems like she shat herself actually, this was only last week

posted 3 hours, 35 minutes ago

She's called for a locally led national inquiry.

Not really sure how that's different to a local inquiry to be honest.

She's gone from this;

" Starmer has accused Kemi Badenoch of “bandwagon jumping” in calling for a new inquiry into sexual abuse gangs. The two leaders clashed before MPs started the second reading debate for the children’s wellbeing and schools bill. At 7pm Tory MPs will vote for a Conservative amendment that would block the bill and urge the government to hold an inquiry into sexual abuse by gangs. Starmer has not ruled out an inquiry (see 1.59am), but Labour MPs have been ordered to vote down the amendment and it is certain to be defeated. Given that the bill includes measures to protect children from abuse, Starmer said it was “shocking” that the Conservatives wanted to vote it down. During the debate the Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe suggested all Pakistani visas should be refused, and aid to the country suspended, until Pakistan agreed to take back any of its nationals who have been involved in child sexcrimes – and their relatives. Labour’s Sarah Champion said she was “disgusted” by his speech."

What does that even mean 😂

posted 3 hours, 33 minutes ago

To be exact she wants an inquiry onto how the authorities failed rather than the gangs themselves

Think we need an inquiry into her inquiry request.

posted 3 hours, 31 minutes ago

Just read up on it, she's said this:

National inquiry – locally led.**
Local inquiries do not have the power to compel witnesses/evidence, nor would they satisfy the public concern of cover-ups. There needs to be a national “Telford style” model which is nationally resourced, and victim centred. The hub-and-spoke inquiry would be rolled out by the Home Office to areas that trigger the threshold for greater scrutiny. Triggers would be victim and survivor reports, self-referral by Local Councils or Police, or concern raised from the independent panel. The findings from the inquiries would then be fed back to the Home Office for a national response. Of course, ongoing prosecutions, risks and disciplinaries would run parallel.
----
But again, that just sounds like a local inquiry only with a bit more power.

Another £300m, another 7 years, another 20 recommendations that the Tories will chose to ignore or vote against now they're in opposition?

It's all performative rubbish. We've seen numerous inquiries into numerous national and local scandals. How many ended with the perpetrators facing justice or punishment?

Intact the recommendations from the last inquiry and investigate those who dismissed or turned a blind eye. It doesn't need another costly and lengthy inquiry to do either.
