Its hard to put your finger on exactly what happened but it has to do with Real Madrid IMO, Jose went in witty, happy and the Special One we all loved and hated, He came back to us constantly blaming everyone but himself, blaming the refs, his own players and lack of Transfers etc.
I mentioned on another thread earlier I think there will be an implosion at utd before the end of the season
once it becomes clear to him he ain't gonna win the league, the pressure will build and add in the dull footy his team play I'm telling u its gonna kick off at the toilet
Something happened in the second half of 14/15, even though we held onto win the title something clearly wasn't right. We started getting battered in big games and for some reason retreating further and further into park the bust mode (only getting draws thanks to Courtois instead of great defending as was the case prior) where-as before we were relatively comfortable getting at least a point in those games.
At the time i tried to convince myself it was because the players are tired and we were doing whatever it took to get the job done, but it was clearly signs of a bigger problem, as shown spectacularly when the next season kicked off.
When Jose was in his first spell at Chelsea he was the master of getting results against the big teams. At the moment he is really struggling on that front. Hopefully he can turn things around, but I feel that he is being too negative in his approach to these big games.

Sincere question and not a WUM.

It does seem that way. But quite often he finds it again.
It is more misplaced than lost.
I wouldn’t say he’s lost his mojo. He took over a poor squad despite all the money that was spent. That’s the reality.
He’s won two trophies and has us moving forward. We have to accept we are still very much work in progress.
I think the answer is yes.
I think he's been overtaken by managers who play a better brand of football than him and he doesn't know what to do about it.
Winston
Hard to argue with that, He was the top dog for a good 5 years 2004-2009 then Pep came in and took all tjr plaudits.. I rate Mourinho higher than Pep in actually think Pep is really overrated but he's definitely declined.
Kanteyoko (U12176)
Look at coaches like Pochettino as well.
Hard to say because he's not had a budget to compete properly, but his Spurs team are exceptional considering what he has spent.

I dont think he lost his mojo.I just think he's the wrong fit for our club and possibly even the PL.
My thoughts exactly. I honesty believe he's fallen out of love with football but knows management is the thing he's best at. United is his dream job and it appears to the outside like he feels it's exactly that - a job, not a passion.
I can't forget his reaction to rejoining us in 2013 to reinforce this. He said all the right things, put on a good front, 'the happy one' and all this, but looking at him I just didn't see it. It was like he'd convinced himself returning to Chelsea (and England) would reignite something in him and it just never panned out.
Like you could be WAY off base here, but he's always been an emotional guy and this is the natural conclusion to draw looking at his demeanor for a long time.

After the Chelsea debacle, he should have taken time out. An extra year would have let him find out what he wanted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He genuinely believes it wasn't his fault what happened so factoring that in, why would he?
It's becoming more obvious that Jose won't be here beyond this contract
Hopefully a meltdown doesn't precede his departure
His behaviour in the media recently would be worrying

The face of narcissism has two sides !
When we played against Jose when he was at Chelsea, he always seemed to have an edge on us and SAF, it really got to me. I don't feel that mojo now, something my have been lost in all of his moves in and out of so many clubs. If we had gotten Jose instead of Moyes when Fergie retired, we'd be back on top, we may have never left it.

Very true. You use to feel the psychological edge he had over certain coaches. Ferguson, Ancelotti, Wenger, Pellegrini, Benitez, even Guardiola to a degree, and you just don't anymore.
I still remember the feeling of watching the second leg of our tie against Inter in the CL 2010. We had better individual players, were scoring for fun in the league, controlled both games in terms of possession, but not once over two legs did I feel Mourinho wasn't in control. He knew they'd beat us, you just felt it. But those days are long gone now.

It's not about portioning blame. Even Jose must recognise his fire is waning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he does he's in heavy denial about it. In his mind 15/16 was down to the player's and last season was down to missed chances.

He does seem to be able to maintain an outstanding record of not losing many at home tho, even if it's becoming a lot more luck than judgement these day's.
I think we all agree Conte is better than Jose mark 2 yet get's beat at home a lot more frequently. Outside of the meltdown period Jose's only lost twice at home since he's returned, Conte's already lost 4.

Things like his fantastic home record. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he still hasn't lost a home match as United manager? And yet there's no aura about going to OT atm what so ever.
Back in the day playing a Mourinho managed side at home was like vantaging into a fortress with dragons guarding the gates, and yet despite still possessing that quality home record statistically, the aura isn't there anymore.
