The most disappointing England performance ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why's that?
Because it was there for us to win, we had a largely very talented side out, and in the second half they offered absolutely nothing.
Both goals were abysmal as well, from Seamans misjudgement to Beckhams bottling a tackle.
Yeah it was very disappointing from us.
We just didn’t have a go once we had gone behind. Went out with a whimper.
Listening to the chat between Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand and Jake Humphrey’s the other week though suggested that the players didn’t really believe they would beat the big nations when it mattered which probably explains the lack of fight.
Once behind it was ‘oh well, we weren’t going to beat Brazil’. Like a mid table PL team going behind to title chasers.
Definitely showed. No energy or fight in that second half.

Bollox English all in all, Irish thing was a smokescreen for your argument as it suited it.
Not sure what England had to do with that discussion anyway. They certainly weren't in my list of teams !!

Yes, the English do not particularly like me cheering on the Irish
But that is one of the joys of football!

You are an odd geezer DJ.
Anyway, back on topic, that defeat to Brazil was a tough one. That England team should have gone far, but never did. Germany in 96 was another bad one.
I can claim to be Irish, American or British depending on the point I want to argue

There does seem to be more genuine friendships, and more togetherness in the England squad among the current lot, especially the younger ones. When you listen to Lampard, Gerrard or Rio they all say how it used to be cliquey and how players from different clubs never really got used to one another.
