Been saying it for years..but if you had signed Forster, wanyama and Virgil direct from us you would have saved a fortune and had a serious shot at a title. Imagine that Liverpool team with those three in it. A proper team.
Agree those 3. Would've greatly enhanced Liverpool eighty down the alone. VVD was the pick of the bunch though and absolutely a class operator
Right down the spine even
Saw 3-3 game v Arsenal and both defences could have done with VVD....now Liverpool have him, I still think you need another quality CB & a new goalie
Yeah we certainly need a keeper if we've notions of challenging at the top.
A new number six too.
Doubt he will make much difference as it's your managers tactics that leaves gaps at the back and not lack of quality defenders.
But Timmy is he not a better defender than what we have at the moment?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The tactics do not excuse some of the mistakes that Lovren and Moreno make.
First thing is the price.. you'll be lucky to find a Celtic fan who has a bad word to say about it It's money in the bank for us.
That said, it's mental but also a fair reflection on the massive money spunkbucket that is the EPL these days.
When you compare it to comparable transfer fees down there, it's about right. He's the best CB in the league and the price reflects that.
Now, money aside.. he's a big unit and knows how to use his size fairly in tackles/jostles with big centre forwards who like to bully defenders (Lukaku).
He has pace to burn so can match most quick CFs (Lacazette/Vardy).
He is also intelligent so knows where to position himself and tells his partner where to be. I was genuinely convinced for a couple months that Denayer was better until I realised that VVD was playing two positions.. CB and LB as Izzy was always 30 yards out of position.
Yet he covered the space of those two positions while also keeping Denayer in check. Which gives you his best attributes.. intelligence and leadership. Those two, coupled with his pace and strength make him a match for the trickiest of strikers.
He's not short in confidence, and playing for an established team with the fan base you have will only make him more assured.
Then you've also got his ability on the ball, he can dribble and pass.. when whether it be a short 5-10 yard pass under pressure to get you out, or a 30-40 yard quarter back pass for an assist.
And he can ping a free kick better than most of the specialists down south. He's never really been given much of an opportunity as a FK specialist under previous managers (only the odd one he's been allowed to take) but you get the feeling Klopp would be one who'd let him if he does it on the training field.
I know he could get injured in his first game and be ruled out for months, but I genuinely believe this is the signing that could make Liverpool a genuine force again. Not by himself, but by supplementing what you already have with a backbone.. although you need a new keeper.
Top signing and what you've got to ask when asking if £75m is with it, is the context. To most folk £75m is a ludicrous amount of money for anything, let alone a single footballer. But to Liverpool FC, who are a multi-million pound company.. £75m could be the difference in making a loss or a hefty profit (and (sadly as a backburner for us fans) a trophy) depending on how he helps them perform.
That's the reality of it.
That's also about the most sense you'll get out of me until 2019
You must've watched him in the epl. If you buy a real solid centre half whose main forte is defending and allow him to have confidence in those around him and you'll see a phenomenal player. along with Keita you'll have the players around him to let him be himself but all this will only occur if you have a goalie cos right now that would be one off the worst goalies in the spfl never mind the epl

I'll take it mate
I'd like us to go out and sign a clear number one keeper and sell Mignolet, Karius can keep as a back up for another year.
Craig Gordon available for only 50m if you’re interested
Fvck that.
You can have him for 5.
Just don't expect him to find a teammate, even with 'suggested friends' turned on.
But if the 1920's are your thing, then you've got yourself a Flapper 👍

So the PL board has been an absolute mess since it turns out we've signed VVD.

C'mon. Some of you guys have contributed to the mess. Scanning the boards looking for anyone who dares question signing him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If people want to question the signing with valid arguments then that's fine. However, that has not been the case for most people involved in the mess.
He told us all your missus gives a good blowy too
