Wanted us to sign him.

He may be jacking us in, but no way would he move across the park.
Got a feeling the move is motivated not only by money/better team but getting out of City

same, sign, never let him play a game then sell for 25mil to west ham #profit
I still wanted LFC to sign him.
Obviously there us the bantz but I think he gas real quality. There are certain technical aspects he could, and needs to, improve on especially without the ball but his skill set is pure danger.
I think he would have flourished at Anfield.
Don't see where Conte is going to play him though.
He's really not that good
Good move for Barkley and Chelsea. They will likely loan him out to a mid table club to give him some experience. Maybe someone around Everton’s level. And if that loan to say Everton works out for him, he could hope to get a permanent deal there. It would improve his chances of getting in the England side.
Never really got the hype around him.
Would struggle to be worse than Bakayoko though
Chelsea
30m on Drinkwater
40m on Bakayoko
15m on Barkley.
Should have just bought someone good like Pogba

Really? Why?
He has moments of brilliance but from what I’ve seen they’re flashes and he spends the majority of the game watching it pass him by. No way would he be a number 6 or 8 (imo) which leaves the creative CM role and I just don’t think he does enough for that.
Strange signing for Chelsea too imo. They’re champions with aspirations to be so again and to challenge for the CL. I just don’t see Barkley as that level. Squad filler maybe? At £15m you could argue it’s a reasonable punt. Struggle to see it as a good career move for him though. A well paid bench warmer would be my guess.
A very useful, homegrown international player with his best years ahead who only cost £15 million. Can't complain

Do you see him starting much Superb?
I don’t see how he makes it into the first team as an attacking midfielder. Not when you have Fabregas, Willian and Pedro (Hazard starting is a given).
Decent squad player I guess, just assumed you’d want more of a first team player to close the gap on City?

Can see Chelsea playing him in the cups or if they have injuries. Don’t see how he’d start ahead of who they’ve already got though.
Because he's good at football.
He can shoot, dribble and pass off either foot. Great core strength and balance for his height, can go either way.

You’re obviously seeing more in him than me Robbing. He can do all of those things but does so sparadoically imo. And doesn’t necessarily chose the best times to do then either, decision making around when to pass and when to dribble I mean.
We’ll see I guess. Great opportunity for him so we’ll see if he takes it.
I don't understand why he gets grief really as in the final third he's extremely dangerous. Numbers are decent too.
I saw something in Ox, Lallana and Firmino too when they got grief. Not saying you didn't.
Can Solo you have asked when or where he will play.
Thing is, even if he does not make many appearances this season I think he will nex season. The players Pedro, William, Fabregas are all over the 30 years old mark, they wont be around that much longer, so if we sign Barkley we have signed a player who is only 23/24 and English and not too long ago International for a very very reasonable 15 mil, how many players with hes ability and possibility to even improve much more do you sign for 15 mil.
It really is a no brainer, we can make money selling end of next season if needs be, but if Conte gets him back to how we know he can play, we could then have a player in the 50 to 90 mil bracket, possibly more if he really took off.
Thats my thoughts on it
Just as a footnotes I don't see where he fits into Chelsea's system at all but maybe that's the point. Maybe they want options.

Initially no. This season he'll obviously play a bit part. Cup games maybe and coming off the bench in the PL. He hasn't played any football this season anyway so it's more of a signing with next season onwards in mind.
As for players to close the gap on City I'm not sure there's too many of those about in January.
He will get less games than Drinkwater at Chelsea
Bridge of dreams - sure, totally get the value for money argument. Even if he was a total flop you’d get most, if not all, of your money back.
So as a low risk punt, I get it. I guess my point is that a club of Chelsea’s standing (i.e. one of the richest in the world, looking to challenge for the top prizes) I’d question whether low risk are really where you’re at. Surely top players you make a significant impact on the first team is your market?
Who knows, maybe I’ll be proved wrong and he’ll turn out to be that player.
Very poor player. You've mugged Chelsea off.

Can Solo, problem is being January transfer window who is really around top top class that you can buy?
No team wants to sell there best players and if they do you have to pay even more than you probably would in the summer.
So as I said 15 mil is not a big big gamble in the context of things.
In answer to you Stretty, you have your opinion, could be wrong could be right. but being a Man U fan and some of your past history of signing players eg Fellani
who I believe you paid around 24 million for and amazingly from everton can you say for certain he is that poor a player, have you followed he's career, have you watched Barclay week in week out?
