Metro and express are repeating BEIN sports. No trustworthy source has bothered with it (telegraph, sky) because is isn’t happening tomorrow

Leicester have confirmed to local media today that Liverpool have made no contact with them over Mahrez.

We do like our Aficans. What will happen when it is the ACON! Or has that been moved now to summer?

Yep it's summer. No worries there.

Mirror reporting that Wenger will sanction the Sanchez to Man City move if he can get Mahrez but Leicester are fighting to keep him

French media reporting that he’s going to Chelsea

In other words no one knows anything so they are making stuff up

He also doesn’t seem like a Klopp player in that he has no interest in working hard or tracking back at all. He literally only wakes up with the ball at his feet and he’s absolutely magical at times
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.

He's an extremely talented player, but from what I've read not the hardest trainer and not the hardest worker when he plays.

He would fit the style of football we play with the ball, not so much without it.

He wouldn’t fit in under Klopps work ethic.

He’s seriously lazy. Used to drive Ranieri nuts and was the reason Pearson used to drop him so often.

according to "sources" there has been no contact between Leicester and Liverpool RE mahrez....

I'd like him

Although £50mil is too steep

Not a pence more than £49,999,999.99

Local media contacted Leicester who confirmed today that Liverpool haven’t even been in contact.

Not saying it won’t happen at some point but certainly not tomorrow

I think Mahrez would be a 9/10 signing for you guys. I'm a huge fan.

Not totally convinced by him, but Klopp hasn’t gotten a transfer wrong yet, so I trust him.

Karius?

Leicester pointedly said "no official contact"

Not "no contact". Beware the ambiguity.

For Liverpool to sanction the move without a replacement just wouldn't happen.

So there is a replacement in the pipeline. Bit of smoke here for Mahrez, he can play in the champions league, not cuptied for the FA Cup, and doesn't need any time to get used to the Premier League.

For me this is a done deal.

Isn't he the kid who spent the last day of the summer transfer window in an airport somewhere in France? Waiting for a call that obviously never came?

And his loyalty lies, where?

Unless we plan to play Salah behind Firmino and change the system then I don't see the point of this unless he's back up which at over £50m seems unlikely.

He wouldnt really be a squad player though would he,

Klopp has our players on the pitch for roughly 180 mins of every 270 (60 mins per game or 2/3 matches) and has rotated like this all season.

If you assume mane, salah and mahrez for the two wing positions thats 2 positions to fill for 3 games, requiring 3 first team standard players if you dont want to weaken yourselves too much on the rotation

sure he wouldnt fit in a "First 11" but when do we ever play our "First 11"

Where would you play Mahrez when Salah and Mane play their best football in his favourite position?

£35m. I really good signing in my opinion who is able to cover a load of positions especially in midfield and on the wing.

Mahrez can pick up the ball from deep.

With Firmino Salah and Mane making runs, leaves the pathway open to go for goal. He's left footed tok ehivh gives the team more balance

Yes, I agree, a good signing for the squad but I am speaking in terms of a Coutinho replacement. In order to replace Coutinho, if Mahrez were the replacement we would need to, at the very least move Salah and/or Mane or change the system.

Could go 4-4-2 like we have done with the “fab four” at times. Mahrez on the right, Mane left and firmino and Salah up front.

Or use them as rotation, the Fab Four haven’t actually started that many games together.

I dont think he will be a coutinho replacement, i think hes a player that strengthens us while we also aquire an attacking midfielder.

In the meantime lallana and AOC will probably attempt to fill that role, or firmino will drop back in to it (he played behind strikers before we signed him afterall)

regardless of having a replacement for coutinho or not, mahrez would add points to our tally by virtue of reducing the effects of rotation.
