The aim is just to keep plugging away
I have had a lot of top 10 finishes and when squadding up a couple of 2nd places
I have also had lots of games where i die within 30 seconds of landing.
The first 2 minutes of the map is all about luck . If you survive this long then normally you should be on for a good round
best tip is never just run aimlessly over the open spaces
work your way slowly into the circle but never stay right on the edge. If you stay on the edge people will pick you off every time as they are waiting for people to come running into the area to get away from the gas

I tend to stick to the outskirts of the cloud. I like to just stay ahead of it 1 step and look to pick off any folk that are following it in. That normally works for me, I do this until the close to the end to which I then guess where the centre of the circle will be and set up camp there to defend.
Delboy that's sort of where i was coming from.by never right on the edge.
I try to stay a little bit inside the edge because i used to be person running for my life to make it into the circle and i get picked off by people already inside it facing outwards ( yourself) lol
add me ROGUEMANNY --- i reckon between us we win a few
Ill add you bud ..... My name will be del-******
I get bombarded with friend requests tho (mainly from Battlefield and racing titles) so dont wanna give my full user name.

Im a Pro Evo man and now rarely play it.
Was so disapointed in GT Sport
I bought CoD WW2 (first CoD title i bought since Ghosts)
nearly finished South Park Fractured but whole.
Project Cars 2 and Assetto Corsa take up most of my time. (and Football Manager)
BF1 still the best FPS i think on the PS4 tho'
I was really surprised to find out that I liked it. First thought was "crappy pubg clone" but it's really good fun. Takes a while to get into, but after that it's a blast. My tactic is look for a town way off the beaten path I know I can hit. Find the caravan parks are pretty good - couple of chests often in the roof of the big shed. Loot this place then other the hill to the town to pick off the stragglers.
Was thinking of getting this game (PS) sounds like you guys are enjoying it, I'll download it in a bit
I should get chance for a second go this evening. If anyone fancies teaming up with a newbie then my PS username is DanLionsden
I've been enjoying it, it's very addictive and although you could defintely improve some areas it is FREE so don't know how anyone can moan!
Well worth a play. I haven't had chance to really get myself a strategy, but agree that's it about gearing up away from the masses and then getting slowly into the mix. I haven't mastered building yet, know I should but I'm not quite ready to make that progression!
Did really enjoy finding a rocket launcher and then destroying the fort that someone had spent ages building (along with them within it). That game I came 4th, my highest - I find you can pretty easily come top 20 without even making a single kill though.
A really good game.
Can any PUBG players tell me how much better that is? I have PS4 so can't play it yet...
Think of PUBG as a more serious version of Fortnite bud. Think of it as an ARMA version of battle royale. Its much slower and the map is bigger and it doesnt have the building option. It does now have a first person view only which i prefer.
I would suggest that people start on Fortnite to learn the basics/mechanics of playing a Battle Royale game as essentially is the exact same tactics that are used (minus the building aspect).
There are still some problems with PUBG and they are rolling out patches to fix these at the moment. Also the netcode on PUBG is fairly poor and inconsistent, meaning youcan sometimes get bad lag, players zipping about, hits not being registered.
Its is more in depth and will no doubt have a longer "lastability" than fortnite i reckon.
hope this helps
Cheers delboy, really helpful
Wonder how many other FPS games will incorporate the battle royale game mode in future games. It’s s great development for the genre.
It's the new craze - already a handful of games with ideas to incorporate something similar. Paladin another freebie on psn, and even cs:go is rumoured to be getting a battle Royale type game - although it seems the cs:go version is actually older than pubg ........
Also if you didn't know you can use a keyboard and mouse with your ps4 to play it! Makes building and aiming much easier

iv always been keeping an eye on going to keyboard and mouse on console. But its expensive to do so. The official endorsed one for PS4 isnt the best. And going thro the converter route is even more expensive. I dont think Sony really want their players on keyboard and mouse.
However I will concede that even tho its not on par with PC at all the keyboard and mouse options for PS4 are still better than using the pad by all accounts. However it doesnt work on all titles, even some bigger titles like overwatch. Also I think you need to link up to a pc to map the buttons for each game which is a bit of a pain.
Couldn't be arrsed with a keyboard and mouse on the PS4 at all, the ability to play the console whilst slouched on the sofa is the reason I have never taken to PC gaming.

It does give you a fair advantage to be fair, even if its not on par with PC. Almost all pro players on PS4 are on K&M. With any shooter it is huge advantage
Why don't they just go on the PC though?
It swill wouldn't sway me, even if it meant I was better at the game.
I quite often use my PS4 through the remote play app on my PC
Does anyone know if i can then get away with using mouse/keyboad?
i'd much prefer to do this as it gives a big advantage
I'm so impatient with games like this, want to be good because I enjoy it but hate dying and having to keep restarting and I've still not learned how to build anything because I'm too concerned with staying alive

cos they have a console?
The one thing that stands out with consoles over PC's especially when it comes to competitive playing is that everyone is running the same hardware, ie all getting the same frame rates etc.
This ensures people are on an even playing field.
Rogue Im fairly certain it doesnt work. As I said I researched getting K&M for PS4 (still am!) looking at the different options, the pros' the cons and nothing came up at all about playing it thro' remote play with them. I reckon I would have found something out when I was checking.

it really aint that complicated bud. circle then x quickly sticks a wall up right in front of you that is essentially the only real bit of building you have to do in an instant when being fired upon. the rest dont have to be done that quickly.
Just spend two or three games when you are in an area with no players messing about building. Its fairly simple really. Just stick with wood structures just now.
The most difficult bit is training your mind to automatically stick that wall up when losing a fire fight rather than fight back as it not something you really do in any other game.
If shot from a somewhere i dont see I quicky put a wall up in front of me spin round 360 degrees putting a wall up all around me. See what wall is being hit, put another 1 or 2 walls up behind that one, then either try and bail or stick a set of stairs up behind the wall being shot walk up them and return fire.
a lot depends on whether you have a shield potion equipped or what weapons you have etc...
most important thing is to make things autonomous and not thinking when under pressure
ps trust me everyone dies a lot in this game,
even the very best players. in the first 5 mins of the game anything can happen to anyone.
playing as a duo is a great way to tart and it doesn't matter if your not as good or better than your partner
stay on comms and talk a lot also cover each other's 6 and share your guns and supplies
you can easily over run an area in the first 3 minutes and have it all to yourself to loot and then decide on a best tactic to move towards the circle
you will be finishing in top 10 in most of the matches you play in next to no time but you will still get times where you land run into a house and stare a shotgun in the face and die before you have even took a breath
