MK Dons v Huddersfield Town - 17.09.11

Inter got no mates to go with this weekend and actually now really wants to go . The pint you can have anytime mate just say next time you see me.

As for the game, I said last weekend I would take 4 points from these two games this week. I stand by that so if we get a draw I will be happy, but if we sneak a win tha's a nice little bonus. My team would prob mirror yours, but maybe L/C might look at starting Roberts over Ward

I honestly would say tag along with us mate but as it's a southern away day I'm making the trip to Birmingham to stop at my brothers tonight and will be getting the train from there first thing in the morning - tomorrows going to be messy!*

I agree that I'd take a point, but I wouldn't be surprised if we won or lost either, I think this is a match that could go one of many ways.

* After the match of course, I'm not one of these to act like a complete drunken idiot at matches!

True, MK are playing some beautiful football these days - it's a joy to watch when it's working well. At times though, it goes too far and we seem reluctant to shoot.

BUT I reckon Dons will be all fired up for this after last weekend's loss to SW. Expect a fine match in the wonderful, welcoming city of Milton Keynes.

I reckon 1-0 to MK.

Come on you Dons!

We have life from Milton Keynes!

We had a similar problem away at Oldham where we worked some great chances but then seemed to want to walk the ball into the net, and we ended up only taking a point because of it. We were much more willing to shoot on Tuesday night though which is a good sign.

How have you lot coped with losing Sam Baldock? Did I do yourselves justice with my assessment of him leaving and McDonald arriving?

I'm worried about this one. Last week showed how susceptible we are to a couple of 'robust' challenges and a lot of pressing. I'm sure Lee Clark will have taken note.

Sam Baldock was a big loss, though I think £4m might be a bit off the mark. I thought it was more like £2m? For now it seems like that money is going towards the club and the stadium rather than new players.

Macdonald is a good poacher, and if we keep creating chances we should be OK without Sammy. We also have goals across the park. Watch out for Chadwick who is in fine form.

excellent match thread cas as always.

im not sure whars gonna happen. forgive me for bringing this up mk but they were a good team last and we managed to score 4 at mk and at home. we had the knack of scoring against them last season. but doesnt mean itll be anything similar this season. ill go for mk 0 town 1

posted on 16/9/11

Cheers Cas for that.

My mate Rob is in Cyprus and some eeejut called Tez4life is off away in't morning too!

Think if Wednesday bullied MK a little then L/C will more than taken notice and may try a little of the rough stuff as well. In L/C first season we played (some) pretty football, but the teams that bullied us we struggled against.

Last week at Wednesday was actually a competitive game for a lot of the 90 minutes.

We 'dominated' posession for an hour and practically gave them their first goal...Then after that we seemed to capitulate, we gave them another goal.
We seemed to pick up a bit and went on the attack, got a goal to make it 2-1...We then had a 5 minute spell where we really tried but just couldn't get through the backline and they scored to kill the game.
So it was actually more competitive than it sounds, we gave them 2 of their 3 goals.

I hope for our sakes we've learned from that!
What you're in a good position for (Against us) is the fact that we're defensively broken at the minute as our best defender, Mathias Kouo-Doumbe is out, and has been out all season, so that COULD be fatal for us but grand for you.

We do however play beautiful football, passing play that is a joy to watch for this division, and really frustrating for the opposition. We rarely give the ball away, but when we do, the opposition can usually capitalise as they begin to run at our dodgey defense!

I don't wanna listen to my head on this one, but I'll listen to my heart and go for 1-0 MK...
...Huddersfield were one of the best teams to come to us last season, lets hope you have an off-day!

Wish I was going to this game as it's near my parents house in Peterborough (yeah, I get a shhh1t load of stick from my old school mates there) but I have to work.

Reckon it'll be a high scoring cracker, I'm going 3-2 Town.

Very good match post!
We are playing very well at the moment and will be tough to play at home. On the website it says we have a few injury concerns but I can only think that its Gleeson. Also Jabo is suspended which will be a big loss.
I dont know much about the Huddersfield team this year but are you playing as well as last year?

Murray_MK...

The thing with last year was that we were more effective than attractive, from Christmas onwards we very rarely played well yet didn't lose a match. The best we played towards the end of last season was the demolition of yourselves down at Stadium:MK, so don't go thinking we played like that every week because that's not the case!

Likewise don't be thinking that we play as well every week as we did against Charlton on Tuesday. That was by far the best we've played so far this season, and in my opinion the first time we've looked anything like as good as we can be when you look at our squad on paper. I expect us to have to play to the same standard if we are to come away with anything tomorrow.

On paper we have improved since last year, as we now have Lee Novak and Alan Lee both in brilliant form with Jordan Rhodes waiting in the wings to try make an impact. We also replaced Pilkington with Danny Ward and Donal McDermott who provide great competition for places along with Gary Roberts. Basically we have a squad that any manager in this league would swap his own for, but we need to start making the most of it and playing with the quality we all know we have!

The one word to describe us is inconsistent, yet we consistently avoid defeat, consistently inconsistent - which is something of an oxymoron yet true!

Cas. When did we play Charlton? !

Good match thread

I think that its going to be a high scoring game with Town coming out the winners after going one goal down in the first 20 giving us the push to rip them apart for a bit. 3-2 to Town for me with Alan Lee getting on the score sheet twice I think

Wetherby, I had them in mind from my drivel about the only remaining teams with unbeaten records!

Hartlepool also remain unbeaten in the league this season, something I neglected to mention in the article because I refuse to give Mick Wadsworth any credit!

posted on 16/9/11

Ha ha ! 3-1 Town! We will win the league with no fewer than 4 defeats.

Great match thread cas, last season I sat behind kindo (dev) (i think it was him) and he got shouted at by an old man cos everytime town scored he started mocking their fans, and the old bloke thought he was swearing at the down syndrome kids. (he wasn't btw)

I can't go (sodding work) the rest of my lot will be there though 1-2 town win.

#disclaimer# I thing it was kindo looks like him off his Twitter pic.

Really looking forward to the game and you are a bit of a bogey team for us, but don't worry I will applaud your team at the end of your unbeaten league run when they lose against us.

That's worth a '5' of anyone's Cas
I was panicking for a bit there, thinking there wasn't going to be a match thread ! (late Friday night here) .

Team selection faultless, assuming Ward is fit ?
You tell me ! Is Roberts 'sorted' now, or is he still sulking ?
OK. from what I'm reading, especially from the 'Dons fans.. (welcome fellas) is Good to watch, passing football v's Direct rough & tumble stuff, which will suffice.. One of my 'pet' statements could come into this...FITNESS.
&,
That 1st goal, !
Sounds like MK had the wind knocked out of their sails by that 1st 'owl' goal last Saturday..
Interestingly. If the Dons score 1st, How confident are we that TOWN can react.
As league 1 goes, This should have been a sell out.

Looking forward to this one like a cup tie,
I'm going for TOWN....Just.

Wetherby,

Just to clarify, you think Hudderfield will win the league whilst incurring more than 4 defeats, surely that is a big ask, unless you think they will either win or lose, so no 1 point from games.

I think Huddersfield will make the playoffs again, but with a better result in the final

posted on 16/9/11

4 defeats, 27 wins 15 draws = 96 points. Very gettable with our team.

Yes, but you said no fewer than 4 defeats, and given that you have drawn half of your matches this season already, 15 draws looks about right, but if you had say 7 defeats that would take you down to 87 points which is what you finished with last year

Hydy,

I saw Kindo on tues, do if the lad you sat behind had a green quilted jacket on it was him! You should have saud hello cos he us a nice bloke! He don't comment much on here now due to all the negativity!

if kindo has left here due to people having other views than his own, he may never find a site that reflects just his own views..
whats the point of adding to a post that just has views that match your own???

argue your point.. i have very definite views but have conceeded , at times, that someone else may have seen something i hadnt..

we all want town to win and would like somewhere to vent our frustration/anger at times rather than doing it at the matches themselves..

weather looks good for mk tommorow.. we will be in the macdonalds after the pub..

nice seats at the stadium for me to have a wee kip before kick off..

its saturday and town are playing, it wont rain and its not a difficult place to get to and back from and there will be plenty of time to make the local after, its all good..
