Sky reporting that you are still trying to do a late deal for Afobe back on loan till season end.
Done deal, fee for Bournemouth, wolves pay his wages.
LMAO...Afobe signed on loan. You must feel a bit of a tw aa t now WITSS?
Wrong All Along badge on it's way...
Wolfie did you have this already typed out at around 10.45 pm in anticipation?
Don't worry Wolfie we've all been there 😊 football can make fools of us all lol. Best thing to do is hold yr hands up, admit the entire JA606 group called it, and laugh it off.
Fair enough. A late deal which I think will be a big mistake. At least we haven't spent mega bucks and I hope it is just a loan deal until the end of the season. He has proved he cannot make it in the top flight. Very surprised and disappointed that the club has done this.
Not sure the fans will be ok with this move either and I certainly feel it's a wrong move, but time will tell.
I'll take the heat when everyone wakes up, but I just hope he doesn't disrupt the place like he did last time.
Promotion is our goal and if he does help in any way, I'll certainly admit I was wrong.
How's that gb?
He didn't disrupt the place last time, he was a very popular figure in the dressing room and not a player had a bad word for him, some like Dave saying how upset they were he was leaving and that he was the best he had played with.
Afobe or not we are getting promoted
Not sure if this loan signing affects the amount of loan players that can be on a squad team sheet for any one match (5). We now have 6 players on loan, unless the impending permanent signing of Jota in the summer means that he is technically not a loan player anymore.
If it is six, then I guess Vinagre will be the one left out in the cold.
Yeah not sure if the Jota situation negates that loan or not? I would assume not.
You can bet your life that Boly and Jota will not be left out of any squad but we may see Bonatini left out here or there and quite possibly N'Diaye given we have other midfield options and MGW could get a bench spot.
You're not on your own on here Wolfie.
Wrong all along

Morning Wolfie
Spot on 😊
I think Afobe has some work to do to win over the fans as there are a lot - me included - who feel he didn't put in the effort he should have during his last few months with the club. But he needs the support of the crowd now he's back and Nuno will give him every chance to prove his worth in a strong side. Have to trust the judgement of the management, who haven't done much wrong so far this year.
My hope is that he's the option B off the bench we need to add late goals in a game, unless and until he can show he fits the current system as well as Bonatini does. The biggest mistake would be to change the style that has seen us top of the league and clear by 12 points, just because a few fans don't have the patience for our controlled, deliberate style. I can't see Nuno doing that as he seems to have very clear views on how we play.
i don't think nuno needs any tips in team systems or getting players to play the way he wants
Yes Nuno knows what he is doing all right
If I was Afobe I would be looking for first team football from any move , loan or otherwise, as he is not playing now, so this is why the deal is a little surprising as I cannot see him going straight into our first team

He'll get game time and a chance to win promotion. If Afobe settles in well then I expect Eno will end up losing out, for this season at least. 180 minutes per match to share between costa, cav, bona, and afobe...should give them all opportunities. 30 minutes Saturday night would be a good start for Beni.
Be very surprised if he's in the starting 11 on Saturday, but he'll likely be on the bench and expect him to make an appearance at some stage, depending upon the state of play at the time.
Would think that might be the way things go for the first 2 or 3 matches at least, and I don't think he would have expected anything else.
Things might change of course if he knocks 2 or 3 in the back of the net in his first few appearances.
It might also have a positive effect on Bonatini too, who hasn't looked so sharp recently. He now has some genuine competition.
All in all a good signing. Don't think there's any chance at all of his having a negative effect on the dressing room. The only possible fly in the ointment is that there might be a small element of the crowd that give him very little rope. I hope this doesn't happen as every player deserves a few games to settle in.
Welcome back Benik.
90% + on E&S Poll appear happy to have BA back. Must be honest, I am too. So I don't think there will be a backlash against him from the fans.
At the end of the day, Fosun are still tied by FFP rules. We needed a striker but couldn't spend huge amounts on a signing. If you look at the other options, Chris Martin, Grabban, Huggill et al then Afobe, to me, appears the very best option.
Plus, he has got to prove tt Nuno that he is worth a permanent signing and he must also be licking his lips in anticipation of playing alongside Jota, Cavaleiro, Costa, Neves etc. What striker wouldn't be?
Putting aside the whole transfer mess of last time he was here, what I do find interesting is the idea that Afobe is a goal machine and Bona isn't a 'proper' striker.
In his last season with us, Afobe scored 9 in 25. In total he scored 22 in 46 league appearances. Leo has scored 12 in his first 26 games for wolves. Their records are not that far apart.
I think the real excitement from some fans is just that they recognise and understand the type of footballer Afobe is. Brought up on years of standard British fare, some supporters get twitchy if they can't spot the big, tall striker to lump the ball up to. I hope Beni proves them wrong too, and shows he has more to his game than that. Otherwise he really isn't what we need long term.
The other plus point is that Afobe and Bonatini, the two who are most likely to interchange I guess, are not all that similar in their style of play.
From what I can remember of Afobe he is probably better with the ball at his feet than Bonatini and so in that sense he is more a replacement for Enobakhare but, and this is the crucial thing, more reliable at finding the back of the net than Eno.
From this point of view, if things go to plan, we will finally have a plan B in attack, or at least an AB. We have definitely lacked an alternative effective offensive approach (3 consecutive "ive"s in one sentence - bonus mark . 4 now).
I'm optimistic or even, to complete the set, positive.
Missed this last night, but writing an article about the window officially closing before it has officially closed is asking for trouble
Im minded to look at the league table and believe that we're going in the right direction here.
Will be interesting though, there's going to be comparisons now with what Grabban does at the Villa and how much effect he has on them.
If Afobe doesn't get in to double figures again, it will be seen as failure by some. He's going to be under some subtle pressures from certain quarters, but I reckon he'll come through.
the other thing I'd add to all of the above. Bona has gone 10? games without a goal, that can't continue for our leading front-man..Mir was his only competition and although the lad is clearly a talent, he's not ready to lead the line either...hardly the right kind of competition to give Bona a kick up the back-side.
Afobe is a proven scorer at this level, happy for him to lead the line or be first off the bench to replace Bona...but ultimately he will provide genuine competition and if this spurs Bona on then it's win win
Only 17 games left and given he won't be a guaranteed starter I wouldn't expect more than 5-6 goals to be honest and if he does start week in week out then maybe 7-8

He didn't disrupt the place last time, he was a very popular figure in the dressing room and not a player had a bad word for him, some like Dave saying how upset they were he was leaving and that he was the best he had played with.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not the dressing room he disrupted. It is the hierarchy at his last two clubs he has fallen out with.
That can be just as disruptive. If a popular player falls out with managers and the board, but has the backing of other players in the dressing room; it undermines everything that goes on there. We had similar problems with Karl Henry in 2012-14.
He has left his last two clubs following falling out with people. Not really a good sign for him.
As said on other threads, I am ok with a short term loan deal if he gets his head down and plays. Any of his egotistical nonsense and he needs getting rid of immediately. The last thing we need is him claiming he is a 'number 10' again, sulking if he is asked to do something he doesn't like, trying to dictate where he wants to play etc. and then others in the squad backing him over Nuno.
Afobe needs to hit the ground running and I'll try and explain why.
Firstly, he's an ex player with or without baggage and did upset supporters with his behavior last time. Second, he's probably on a far bigger wage than anyone else at the club and therefore must prove himself to the current squad. Thirdly, I wouldn't mind betting that the combination of our attacking force (Costa, Jota, Cavaleiro, Bonatini and Enobakhare may be unhappy with his arrival.
His loan fee has been reported at being about 1m, plus another 1m on his wages until the summer. Not that much, I agree, but he has to start scoring goals straight away or else there'd be no point signing him
Just to touch on something cinci mentioned late last night. If we're going to be promoted anyway, why did we waste money getting this guy in? Not sure I get that logic.
Anyway if he scores the goals, I think we'll all be happy and the one thing that's in his favour, is that he'll be surrounded by better players than he had last time.
