Rounding up a few bars here and there makes a big difference...just to suit your argument
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure it does make a big difference. Ox was £35m with £5m in addons...reportedly. Nobody has access to the accounts, so you're not going to get exact figures at this stage. VVD was reported to be £75m. Keita's release clause was reported to be £48m and due to us stealing a march on the opposition we had to pay a premium on top of that, reported to take it to £56m. It has since been reported that if RBL qualify for the CL, the fee rises to £66m but I'm not sure how true that is.
Regardless, the figures aren't widely inaccurate and do nothing to make a "big difference".
The point made was they are spending huge sums, breaking our transfer records repeatedly. Are they perfect? Of course not.
I'm not complaining about the spending though. Just thought it was funny how the figures increased just to flow with the comment

Yeah, it works both ways though. ShortRap had been whining about Coutinho for a couple of years, our best player, who had over twenty goals and assists in less than half a season. He leaves and it becomes another negative, when surely it should be a positive for ShortRap?
Anything can become a negative if you find the right angle. RAP has been trying that since he stepped inside that machine, from The Fly at the same time as Shortlight, creating the monstrosity that is the great whining, moaning, compaining, overly negative, bowls playing ShortRap!

Coutinho was $hite. Can't believe we sold him for a billion quid.
FSG Out.

In terms of net spend the owners have put in less that 100m as it stands.
In my opinion Klopp is over achieving by getting us into the top 4, factoring in what other clubs are spending.
FSG aren't bad owners, it's just that they promised the world by saying they would do "whatever is necessary" to bring success to the club after getting the club on the cheap.
Klopp's recruitment has been excellent imo. It's just that we need a few more good players in key positions. Only time will tell if the clubs decision not to spend more on players after selling our best player will cost us more come the end of the season. Hopefully the gamble pays off. However, for me not bringing in a keeper, a Sturridge alternative and selling and not bringing in a replacement for Coutinho is too much of a gamble.

It's very rare for a club to bring in one first team player in January, never mind four. We brought in a player in our weakest area. The Coutinho money will be used in the summer with more time to negotiate and identify targets.

I agree. Buying players in January is difficult.
Therefore by weakening the squad by selling Coutinho and letting Sturridge go at this time is odd.
Missing out on CL football hits the owners pockets and makes the club less attractive for potential targets. It's a risky strategy. Too risky imo. If it fails it turns the heat up on the manager and the owners.
