I still don't think Fury vs AJ happens. Something will come up, whether it's broadcasting rights, split, rematch clause, venue and location etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or the main issue, Fury ducking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As clear as it is that Fury ducked Usyk I don't think that Fury will duck AJ now. The money would be really good and unlike the Usyk fight it's a fight Fury knows he can and probably will win.
Fury takes that fight all day long now, especially if it delays or even stops him ever having to fight Usyk. Something he clearly doesn't want to do.
It's definitely not the fight I want though. I think Fury vs AJ is now just a match up to get the casuals giddy and sell ppv. It's well past it's expiration point.

AJ should fight someone like Wallin next
Then a big one vs Joyce Fury or Wilder
Think he loses to all 3 though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AJ vs Whyte appears to be the next fight. Which is at least reasonably exciting even if both are definitely past their best now.
Chisora needs to retire now.
Wow...... honestly AJ should retire - an awful performance for someone there who is just there for the money, and even that I am not sure how long that is left for if they couldn't even sell this fight. Fury no longer needs to beat AJ he is that un important in the division now - AJ done that all himself too, feel bad for anyone who paid for thatbkast night - honestly even felt ripped off watching the YouTube highlights!
AJ vs Wilder is a fight I'd be much more interested in watching than AJ vs Fury. Both should have fought each other and that's a far more exciting fight than AJ vs Fury in my opinion.
And if Fury is going to carry on refusing to fight Usyk then he should fight Joe Joyce (assuming he beats Zhang in what will be a cracking fight). Especially after Joyce beat up his mate Parker in front of him. If beating Joyce is as easy as Fury keeps saying then prove it.
Anyone saying AJ should retire when he still won is overreacting. Ok he didn't knock the guy out like many expected but he still beat him convincingly and Franklin isn't as bad as is made out.
AJ will knock Whyte out and the retirement talk will be replaced for a call for the Wilder or Fury fight.

Yes he may not duck this time. It was a performance from AJ that wouldn't have given Fury any nightmares. Maybe Fury realises anyway with fan opinion of him at an all time low, he needs a big fight again. Doubt it's next for either of them though. Would be nice for AJ to have another fight and knock the opponent out in style just to help build up a potential fight with Fury, rather than where he is now off the back of this performance.
I always wanted AJ to go in against Wallin and stop him, just to make it look better in comparison to Fury's win before they both fought, but I wouldn't feel confident of AJ vs Wallin at the minute.
I wouldn't back AJ to beat Otto Wallin right now. Plus there's no money and all risk in that fight.
Lol have some of you not watched AJ since the Ruiz fight
Overreacting
Just tell us you don't watch AJ
Was also an awful fight Vs Franklin and didn't look convincing in any way shape or form, nor has he since Ruiz, and there were even fairly big questions before Ruiz
Just imagine if judges actually used the whole scoring scale!
Like yesterday would have been 60-53 and even that I feel is being very generous, but maybe it would be a wake up call to some boxers

Of course it's overreacting. You're saying he should retire after a unanimous points win? Come on man.
Not every one of his wins has to be done via knock out. He should have knocked him out but sometimes it doesn't always work out like that and he's still in the process of rebuilding his confidence after 2 recent losses against the P4P best.
AJ certainly shouldn't retire. There are still fun fights out there and with his power, he can hurt anyone. I would love to see AJ vs Wilder but let's build him up to it. Just because a fighter is no longer at the pinnacle, doesn't mean he should retire.
Having watched the fight back, I did notice some good defensive work from AJ and he wasn't as gun shy as people seem to believe. Franklin has a tremendous chin and the performance by AJ could have been better but I never felt like he was in trouble.
AJ vs Whyte is a fun contest and both have history. It's also a fight where AJ will be more willing to go toe to toe.
No I have been saying for years he should retire pay attention. The guys been off the boil for so long and doesn't even look bothered. Again I ask did you see the fight as honestly that's not a points decision I want, it was horrendously bad. AJ is supposedly one of the best in the world but scraps past journeyman by just sticking out his jab and doing his robot impression. Like I said imagine if judges "actually" scored a round , he would barely get more than a 5 or a 6.
Yes I will admit the division is p1$$ poor, but still.....

i know i will be in the minority here , but i kinda fancy AJ in that fight.
He always fares better against bigger fighters and always struggles to land on the smaller ones.
I have a feeling he KO's him. Of course I can also see Fury dancing rings round him and slapping AJ about down the final stretch of the fight.

I know im in the minority with that
I do think people are being far too OTT with AJ's performance on Sat.
Franklin is decent , not great but decent. Has decent feet and pretty fast hands, has a decent chin, he is the height that AJ usually seems to struggle with.
Could he have stepped it up and stopped possibly, but at the end of the day he pretty much shut him out.
Rounds were close but clear, the result was very very wide either 11-1 or 12-0 to AJ. Against a top 10 HW that aint terrible as is being made out.

I give this current version of AJ no more than about 10% chance of beating Fury and that's probably being generous. Even if he manages to put him down Fury has shown he can get up against the biggest puncher in the division.
And he's certainly not outpointing Fury even if they fought a hundred times. I think it's a dull fight now anyway. Put AJ up against Deontay Wilder and now I'm getting excited that we might see some fireworks.
