An off night, don't think so.
We've rode our luck for long parts of the season.
The business end is nigh, play offs a must, 2nd is overated.
Rams through the hard route is the way to go.
Not for those of a nervous disposition:

Not a great result against an out of form team but seems like we have had this coming for a couple of weeks now. Good opportunity to get feet back on the ground and get back to becoming a hard working unit again.
We had to lose at some point.

We're all thinking it.
Soft underbelly.
All of a sudden we are easy to score against despite playing the most defensive side we have available against a team that can't buy a win.
I'm hoping they can sort it for next week but they haven't responded well to a poor performance on Saturday.
Familiar pattern but I think we can ride it out and still grab a playoff spot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes - play-offs very likely but I was looking for an automatic spot. There is much more time to prepare for the PL. Last what little time we had was frittered away by little Billy.

Bristol City have had a massive fall in recent weeks. Sheff Utd have fell out of the play offs. Yet it’s derby fans who are the most depressed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can see why Griff. We seemed unbeatable and very difficult to score against. And then - suddenly we aren't. But having slept on it - and seen the one positive to be seen in the performance - which was, by reports, Kasey Palmer's 8 minutes on the pitch, I am recovering hope that we can still get Automatic spot.
The ease with which Joao finds the space between the centrebacks and Huddz and Ledley is a worry.
I maintain that this loss was needed to gee us up, to ease the "unbeaten streak" tag, and get us back to playing the way we got to second in the first place. Lots left to play for and hopefully those who demanded more possession of the football will consider last night's stats and give it a rest for a bit... perhaps Rowett actually DOES know what he's doing after all!!

Well said Cat.
I agree with 666 about sometimes it being necessary to lose in order to kick on again. But I think we still ARE playing the way that got us into second in the first place. It's a percentage type of football, organised, unlikely to concede any or many and trying to take advantage of slightly less well-drilled teams at the other end. We got to second without outplaying anybody really, just being more efficient. We don't have the attacking quality to take teams apart so we rely on the strength of the spine and taking chances. Rowett plays the odds and naturally it doesn't always come out in our favour. If we don't mess around too much we will soon be grinding it out in unspectacular fashion again. I don't know if it will be enough or not but it will be close.
You know, having lost a game, the comments here are far, far more positive than those when we win.
The cards have been thrown up in the air. No more JR or Chris Martin. Jerome and Palmer to be integrated. Nugent to be mollified or re-motivated. Anya, Forsyth and Lawrence to be re-integrated. BJ to sort himself out. Quite a lot to ask really.
Live Curling on at the moment GB are 2 down to Canada 2nd End
Whoever went last night? Can you tell us who played well who didn't? Or was it just one of those games where nothing went right for us and two great goals went right for them? We've won a few like that recently, in truth.

Not really. Canada are ace........Exciting stuff though.....

QUICK EVERYBODY! PANIC!!!!!!!
The core of the team hasn't and won't change too much. Forsyth and Olsson have each played at times depending on the opposition and this will continue, as with Wisdom and Baird at right-back. All know their positions and the rest of the team well enough. Either Ledley or Thorne will continue to partner Huddlestone. As has been the case all season we have some choices for wide positions. Anya has replaced Russell for one of those. It's a pity about Russell but it doesn't really change the team much - he was competing with Weimann for one spot anyway and they are fairly similar. Martin was not playing at all and Jerome has come in to be an alternative to Nugent. Both run the channels so it doesn't materially affect the style whichever plays. Palmer will play a little here and there as a further option wide or as a replacement for Vydra.
Integration and re-integration? Really? When those cards that are all in the air come down again I'm betting they will be in the same places as they were before.

I do not believe I did a Corporal Jones in my comments repeated above. But there certainly are integration issues to sort out. There IS bit of unease in the camp whatever you say Vidal. As for how the cards come down, they are the same cards and they can hardly come down in any other pattern.
GR just has to make them fit better. My mention of Martin was perhaps a red herring but he has to get more out of Lawrence, Thorne, Forsyth and Ledley. In My Opinion. And saying it in no way is a panic reaction.
I watched the game last night and thought we played pretty well, we just couldn’t score. Yman and Vydra were buzzing, Nuge was a bit in and out, Leadley and Huddz could have played it forward a bit quicker and Bairds crosses were very good.
The weakest link last night was the left side, Fozzy once again cannot pass to a white shirt and BJ just looks like a doorman. Apart from being a threat in the air he doesn’t really contribute much other than fouls.
Palmer did look good for the few touches he had and may be the creative, quick link between midfield and attack we are lacking; Let’s hope he starts next game.
Performance last night was Ok and certainly not the worse this season. There really is no need to panic.
