I would have posted earlier, but had to go and see my therapist after being traumatised watching Derby last night!

High points - Meeting Griff and his dad, top fellasand Palmers bit of magic to set-up Weiman.

Low points - how long have you got? Lawrence is a disaster and why GR subbed Palmer I'll never know, he was the only one on the pitch who looked like he'd seen a football before! Jerome is also a joke, at least Nugent was trying.

Hope you got home safe Griff, sorry I lost you after the turnstiles.

Cheers for the beer and good to meet you. Nice knowing we have mutual friends as well. Got home about 2.30 this morning. Abit of a shock when my alarm went off at 5.30.

Mate it was packed at the back of the stand.

My mum and dads flight has been delayed by 3 hours this morning. My mum will be on the gin.

We are echoing Huddersfield’s season last year. Everyone kept saying at the start of spring they’d blown it.

Seems confidence is waiting in GR, how long did we extend his contract for?... I think he can turn it round however.

Hearing Ledley left last night on crutches. That’s his season over?

I’ve heard Thorns season could be over as well. Lesley signalled straight away when he went down.

I’m sure Rowett will sort it. I said when he was appointed he needs 2 summers to put his stamp on the squad

Can Baird do a job in that position?

This site is going in to tabloid newspaper mode. If we win we are better than Barcelona, if we don't we are a third rate pub team.

Some observations:

When we were on our winning streak we weren't that good. In fact we are probably playing better in some games now we aren't getting the results. We played far better at home to Leeds when we drew 2 2 than when we went to Elland Road and won.

We have had some favourable refereeing decisions which helped our cause, especially with dismissals. We also had the benefit of teams such as Villa and Boro gifting us goals.

Now we aren't getting the breaks and the refereeing decisions. Since the new year we have had perfectly good goals disallowed and clear penalties turned down. Over a season this happens and though it doesn't always even out perfectly, 46 games gives it a chance to do so.

As for players, Lawrence isn't that bad except his composure in scoring positions. Very annoying he should have at least 4 more goals. His misses though are insignificant compared to Nugent's who should be up with Vydra with the number of decent chances he has had, yet no one says a word about Nugent.

Jerome isn't that bad but I don't see why we needed him. If we wanted to play a big strong forward up front we already had a tried and tested one.

There was a campaign by some on here to get rid of Russell. Well that worked out well didn't it boys and girls. Is Anya better than Russell?

Yes of course we can improve on all our players, they aren't playing in the Championship because they are world beaters but over stating their deficiencies is not very constructive.

Not to wish serious injury on anyone but if we DO run out of static midfielders then maybe Rowett's hand will be forced into playing a midfield with a bit of pace and attacking intent in it rather than having to build a wall around Captain Chaos... injuries to Ledley and Thorne could be the catalyst to an upturn in form and results!

Griff, why oh why did he sub Palmer. Same as at Reading, winning the game, sub Palmer and let in a soft goal (and boy was it a soft goal). Four points down the drain.

I recon my gran could have put the QPR goal away, so bad was our defending for the set-piece.

Spart, its obvious you weren't there last night, we wern't even as good as "not that good".

Can’t understand why he took Palmer off at Reading and at QPR and why he didn’t start him against Fulham.
I would like to know what qualities Lawerance brings to the squad. Not creative, doesn’t shoot, doesn’t make himself available enoughand doesn’t run at defenders, useless with set pieces, bottles challenges, leaves Forsyth isolated. He had a good chance to head a cross in last night but bottled it and just turned his back on the cross and allowed the defender to head it clear. He’s making Weimann look good

City ground might not be the place for him then.

It does appear that he is GR blue eyed boy though so not expecting him to be dropped.

There is much common sense in what Spart is thinking above. For some unaccountable reason the breaks are mostly going against us. And first half of the season more went for us. Don't know what we can do about that except avoid mistakes and play with more discipline. Too many unnecessary fouls in dangerous positions. But I can only think he subbed Palmer because of match fitness issues.. He should be a permanent pick as far as I am concerned - instead of Lawrence

It wasn't a critiscism Spart and I have never professed to be an expert at/in anything to do with football, but you really had to be there to witness how awful we were.

Griff is spot on about Lawrence. You wouldn't want him looking out for you in a battle, he's a coward.

Was Lawrence a coward against Reading when he ran though the flailing legs of Reading defenders to score. Don't talk crap Scouse. Believe me I have seen some awful performances from Derby over 50 plus years of watching them. You want to be glad that you hadn't paid the cost of transport yourself.

I wouldn't actually want anyone looking out for me in a battle. People are no match for modern fire power.

" forced into playing a midfield with a bit of pace and attacking intent"

What midfield would that be though? Honest question.

Palmer, Weimann, Anya.???? Who else do we have?

posted on 7/3/18

Team would then be.

Carson, Wisdom, Keogh, Davis, Fossie or Olsson?

Huddlestone, Palmer, Weimann, Anya. A N Other
Jerome or Nugent?

That's what they pay GR for -

I maintain we bring in a youngster or two and to hell with the league position.

Sorry Spart, you've lost me there, (unless you are offering to top-up my Oyster card)?

posted on 7/3/18

By getting rid of the two box to box midfielders of Bryson and Hughes, Rowett signalled his intention that playing though the middle was not a priority. Huddlestone was going to play balls out to pacey wide players or along ball for Vydra to chase.

Thought you were in London on business Scouse so all travelling costs down to expenses. I didn't know you were so parsimonious that you resented paying your own tube fare.

We have got rid of Hughes, Hendrick, Martin, Russell, Bryson. Lowe. and others.

I wouldn't like to be playing against a teal with those players involved.

Tbf that’s about the highlight of Lawerance this season a bit of a run at a couple of Reading defenders and he was abit lucky with a weak tackle from a Reading player. The bloke is nesh and not a team player. He tho is he’s a big time Charlie and is so
Lazy he make Tom Ince look like a long distance runner. I just can’t see any quality points from Lawerance. He vanished in too many games this season. I forgot he was playing last night until he gave away a stupid cheap free kick which cost us 2 points.
How can he go from having a decent season at Ipswuch last year to what he’s doing this season. Ince got slated game after game for doing a lot more. You even slate Nugent for doing more than Lawerance.

posted on 7/3/18

Lawerance received a great cross, right height near centre of the goal all he had to do is head it on target. His reaction was shameful. Bottled it has he saw a challenge coming. Even Connor Sammon would have got his head in.

posted on 7/3/18

Griff, Ince was never lazy, or Martin or Lawrence. That is just fan talk. Players if they have any sense don't chase lost causes as it uses up energy they could use if a real chance occurs.

I criticise Nugent because no one else seems to recognise how profligate he has been with really good chances this season. Are you saying he hasn't.

I also don't believe Lawrence bottled a chance of scoring. Footballers love to score. He may have totally failed to take his chance but I doubt it was through fear. It's another fan myth. I remember criticism of players who turn their backs on shots but all players do it as it is a reflex action.
