As a Utd fan, do you enjoy watching city?

Let me see if I got this straight:

They didn't have to be special, but they have been nevertheless.

They didn't need to be, but 30 games in are nevertheless on course for a record points and record goals haul.

More credit to them, then?

The silver lining for Mancunians is that Noel Gallagher isn't quite as miserable as usual.

Always liked attacking creative football over boring stuff.

present climate excepted, that is why I started to follow united 50 years ago. They were the best to watch even when they won diddly squat. Liverpool payed the most negative stuff imaginable and won quite a bit.

More recently both arsenal and barca have received unwarranted plaudits for their tippy tappy crap. Awful to watch.

Give me City, Chelsea, Real or spurs any day of the week over barca, arsenal or Liverpool.

Obviously I want United to get back to the good stuff, but they need a major influx of competence and an out flowing of crap before that can happen.

truth hurts

Not really. They play very good possession football but i now find many of their games pretty dull due to two reasons

1. They are all about keeping the ball and they do it brilliantly
2. Opposition seem to give them far too much resoect now to the point they are putting everyone behind the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dull indeed. How terrible it is to be
1. dominant and
2. strike fear into your opponent.

Solid points to not like their style of football...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
its pretty obvious what hes saying

because theyre so dominant you know the oppo have just decided theyve lost prior to playing and the recent games have been pretty dull.

liverpool are far more bang for your buck because theyve just got that disaster in them and you know its coming at any point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So it's City's fault that teams park the boss? There will always be a few boring matches. You have to look at City's philosophy, their style of play which is an attacking one. Their intent is not boring.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Touched a nerve with your beloved city?

No one is blaming city for teams parking the bus. The point was the games they’ve been involved in are dull to watch, doesn’t matter who’s fault, and as such they’ve not been enjoyable to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said, no team is exciting in every single game. The point is that City and Liverpool play the best and most enjoyable football in the country.

I'm not even a city supporter. I enjoy watching football and unlike you i can give credit where it's due. You don't enjoy them when they play defensive teams and that's fine, but how would you play while upholding attractive football and result?

Eh
I said I find their games a bit dull due to the reasons given. It's more of a compliment to them that they are so far ahead of the rest now.
Obviously completely idiots like yourself don't see that though

Aye, the original post wasn’t a stupid comment, watching City against some teams is like watching an attack vs defence training excercise, at times. It’s not City’s fault, obviously but it can be dull.

Their upcoming games with Liverpool will be epic though *rubs hands together* you can genuinely see the aggregate score being 8-5 or something ridiculous.

I totally get where Python's coming from, and I also understand it as a kind of begrudging, somewhat backhanded compliment.

Others do use it as a stick to beat Pep's teams with, but Python's clearly referred to the games as opposed to City's football in itself.

The way I see it though, the way they play the game lays down a marker of footballing excellence that opponents can either try to rise to or, as many do, choose to retract into their shells. It's clearly misguided to lay the blame at City's feet for being 'too good' for opponents to dare go toe-to-toe with them, which is what people do when they generally refer to Pep's style as 'boring tiki-taka'.

When a side does decide to take them on by applying pressure, it challenges City to move up a gear and speed up the passing and movement.

That kind of approach, when both teams are capable of playing with precision and intensity at speed, makes for football at its very best.

Even when they don't, the moves City put together to carve their way through tight-knit defences are still a thing of beauty in themselves, and more often than makes it worth my while to have to put up with the more tedious passages in between.

Liverpool may be the obvious example, but the Monaco tie last season (with a City side that was admittedly still a distance off where they've been this season) was another great example of the spectacle two teams can serve up when they throw caution to the wind and go for each other's throat.

Yeah you have to admire the way Pep goes about getting his teams to win, the problem lies with the fact 99% of sides are too scared to go toe to toe and it’s understandable. However, as we saw with Bayern when the top teams do go for it and not hide they can relatively easily overcome Pep as both Real and Barca did. This City side really are special (and it’s hard to see in comparison to United) but the real test for Pep will come against the big boys where he has in recent years failed.
