There is nothing in the definition of expensive that alludes to value being recouped being able to change if an original transaction was expensive or not.

Expens in latin which makes up the word Expensive means specifically paid out.

So the United fan argument here boils down to Pogba is not a flop so long as he goes for more than he cost.

So he cost 90m already, wages 15m a year.

So he's cost United 120m by the time the summer window rolls round, so they would need to make in excess of 120m this summer on Pogba for him not to have been a flop.

That is not going to happen unfortunately.

Those still at a club and under performing, are currently flopping.

No Ronald I don't. That's why I used the words, 'If by some miracle' we sell him for 100 million.
But I was making the point it's too soon to know if he's an expensive flop until the story is over.
He might start to fulfil his promise next season for example. I doubt it but its too soon to know.
Unless you are gifted with foresight we don't know how it will turn out.
