Woakes is a better fast bowler than Wood or even Stokes,so omitting him from England test lineup shall be a massive blunder on England's part.
England have been widely criticised for picking too many right arm medium fast bowlers and lacking variety. I like Woakes but he's not been as good as he was pre injury so it makes sense to get a speedster into the side.
Wood is someone that England like and it may be that they use a J Overton, Helm or Tongue should Wood break down again rather than going to Woakes, C Overton, TRJ (although I think he's out for the summer), Porter, Coad etc.
Stokes is in as the all rounder, he's quicker and a better bat so there's no way Woakes would come in for him.

We must do this now, because we will likely beat Pakistan and India and everything will be rosy again. (Cocky, but being honest).

England cricket is in a mess.
When did we last lose at home in May?
Bayliss has to go as does Ramprakash.
Pakistan have been very good to be fair but still...
We can all whinge on about lack of talent etc but if you put Dizzy Gillespie in charge of these lot within a year we would be a lot better.
What do Malan and Stoneman have to do to get dropped?
I've long since lost touch with the county game but surely these can't be the best we have to offer?
I always thought it was a mistake to burden yet another bright young batsman with the captaincy and stifle their natural instincts.
I'd much rather see a 'professional' captain in the mould of Mike Brearley appointed than ruin players like Joe Root.
agree Root was a bad choice for captain, but who else, give to Stokes at least he has the passion, could have consequences of course but have to deal with them when/if they happen, as for batsmen well stoneman gone, but surely we have better, what happens when Broad and Anderson seize up, joints go, do we have replacements in mind not seeing any, relied on them too long.
