You make it sound like those two things are mutually exclusive. If they finish outside of Europe then their best chance of getting back up the table will be if Arsene leaves, not if he stays.

If southampton play anything like they did against utd in last years league cup final, they have a great chance. Deserved to win the cup final massively. Should not be underestimated despite a terrible season.

Every team has a chance at this stage of the competition. Sometimes the teams that don't have anything else to lose are the ones to fear most, in which case Chelsea might be the most dangerous.

maybe great chance is pushing it, but chelsea are crap, wigan and portsmouth have won cups in recent-ish years and anything can happen. Not saying it will. Glamour of the cup and all that jazz.

Is their team not much the same as last year? I mean VVD didn't play.
