One thing that I haven't seen talked about is the fact that RDJ might be unrecognisable in these movies. If he's playing a heavily scarred Victor Von Doom for example. Then there's no issue with him looking like Tony Stark.

I don’t have an issue with him playing Doom, as in, it’s the comic book world, it could make for an interesting story, with how Tony Stark has become Doom…

But, if they are just playing it straight as, and he literally is Doom.. can Feige/Marvel/Disney get away with it?

You can’t tell me of all the actors out there, you went back to same guy and asked him to play someone else, without acknowledging Stark. That would be a proper cash-grab stunt casting.

I'm in two minds about it tbh

Yeah it will be an interesting story if Doom is in fact a Tony Stark variant from a different timeline. But the flipside is do we really want an iconic villain like Doom to not have his own story and character.

We all know RDJ is an exceptional actor and if anyone can pull off multiple variants...it's the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.

I've seen people point this out on other sites, but is a good point nonetheless. Presumably we'll see him quite often without the mask so would be good if he was heavily scarred like this.
