Just out of MoM solid 8/10 for that film, dunno why anyone is even entertaining a lower score, it does a lot with its 12a rating tbh, and doesn't follow the marvel formula at all, some really interesting choices made in terms of the direction of scenes too..

curious about the water tech cameron has, aquaman 2 is out at a similar time and is using a new tech for it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be more than a bit embarrassing if Aquaman 2 ends up looking much better than Avatar 2. As far as I'm aware shooting for Avatar 2 started way back in 2017, that's half a decade ago already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah what's up with all that?

Why such a long wait to release it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well just going from what I've read Cameron wanted to film three or four sequels together. It's very ambitious and nothing on this scale has ever been done before.

There's a huge amount riding on these Avatar sequels, especially Avatar 2 which needs to rekindle public interest as the money spent on these sequels must be astronomical.

My concern with Cameron filming 2,3,4 is that the technology being used is 2022 level. So the visuals will not differ in those movies and when 3 or 4 come out in in the next few years, there is a risk that the visuals might even look outdated.

I gave it a 7.5 but the movie has its flaws.

$250m budget for 2 and 3 apparently.

I think the delay with covid and the backlog with VFX houses, put a lot films on delay.

I think you can count on one hand who you could trust, to make a film look way ahead of it’s time.
For me, it all rest on Avatar 2, which as said, was being filmed back in ‘17. So if he blows everyone’s mind this xmas, I think we can assume, the others are gonna be mind blowing too. And they’ll be constantly updating as they go along right til the last minute, I doubt they’ll be sitting in the can on shelf waiting for release.

Just come out-of Dr Strange 2. Agree with Insert.

Loved the horror vibe and one particular cameo made me exclaim out loud and get told to shut up haha

General consensus on here seems to be somewhere between a 7 and an 8. Spoiler discussion will be tasty on Friday.

The real question however is whether or not this movie makes it into your top 10 MCU list.

It 100% doesn’t make mine. The more I think about it the more disappointed I am with it. Starting to think my 7/10 was a bit generous

In no order my top 10 would be

Ironman
Avengers
Winter Soldier
GOTG
GOTG2
Civil War
Ragnorak
Infinity Wars
End Game
No Way Home

My list is similar except Shang-Chi instead of Civil War and maybe Homecoming in there somewhere.

It’s still worth the watch. Just don’t go into it with ridiculously high expectations like I had. I was a lot more hyped for MoM than NWH as Tom Holland’s Spiderman never really grew on me, but I ended up enjoying that a lot more than MoM.

The NWH cameos were much better than MoM’s too. The best thing I can say about MoM is that Strange didn’t come out of it looking like a complete idiot.

Ohhh not sure about that

Idk how much we can say without it being called spoilers but in terms of the impact on the movie and the characters IQ levels, the NWH cameos were much better

Yeah I'm ready to argue this point but can't cause of spoilers

All I'll say for now is I did enjoy NWH's cameos too, though it was the worst kept secret that they were in the film.

If you are talking about shock value then yea. The crowd at my screening went pretty wild. I just don’t think they offered anything significant apart from shock value

What’s interesting, a few have now seen MoM.
Besides Guv who answered a query, nobody has mentioned the Post Credits. 🤔
I’m seeing it tomorra, the moment I see Sam Raimi’s name, I’m walking…

yeah leave after the mid credits, can probably find it on youtube after

MoM is a strange one cos I think it's probably being negatively viewed due to people's crazy high expectations, although that said I had the same thing going into Spider-man and loved that.

I really liked a lot of the ideas in MoM but at times I thought it it just felt like a bunch of random stuff happening
