Of that group only Butland has any upside.
Are you taking the pisss man?
These guys are not good enough for Arsenal. Shaqiri definitely a very talented player and a lot better than some of our options but we should be looking for better than that.
Shaqiri would be decent back up option. He’d be more effective than Iwobi. Talented player, just very inconsistent. If he’s available cheap it’d be ok. Butland better than ospina, probably ahead of Cech now as well. But we should be aiming higher.
Butland is an average keeper
Stoke have the worst defensive record in the league, but let’s sign their crock goalkeeper and scuuumbag captain who were both at the heart at the majority of those conceded goals
Arsenal XI next season:
------------------Butland---------------
Naughton--Shawcross-Evans--Gibbs
---------J.Allen-------Barry---------------
Shaqiri---------Ayew-------------Rodriguez
-----------------Crouch---------------------------
Manager : T.Pulis
I have compared Butland to Seaman in the past. He has everything height, reach, reactions and build to command the box. My only fear is does he have the confidence to play under pressure for a big team? If it is Allegri then I think he will have a better chance and maybe a bargain option. Lets face it we aren't getting Oblak. Attracting the very top keepers will be difficult without the guarantee of CL football and I would much rather keep £50m+ fees for outfield players.

He is nothing close to seaman ffs
If Southampton go down I’d be tempted to go for their fullbacks. Bertrand to bench Nacho and Cedric as competition for Bellerin.
There’s no other players from any of the bottom 5 I’d be interested in

If we get Allegri he can bring your old friend Woijech with him
We signed Seaman from QPR. A yo-yo club.

The player who couldn't get selected ahead of a 40 year old?
Apart from butland that stoke squad is awful. Shaqiri is a motd player. Plays well once every 10 games and looks good on the highlights reel but not good enough for arsenal. Shawcross' best days are long gone. His mistake relegated them
Jenius, actually he’s started 16 league games out of 35 so nearly half.
And he knew when he joined it would be with view to taking over from Buffon next season
Anyway, we never should have sold Woj, he was quality from Roma and our current options are awful.
Woj had two nervous breakdowns on the pitch, batmanu. Just go and watch the Southampton game that was the last straw for him. He has rebuilt his career and is probably not the same player we had at Arsenal. But, and that goes back to his mentality when he was younger, it will be a completely new ball game for Woj when he takesover from Buffon.
Thats what worries me abt someone like Butland. Whether he, a young keeper, can handle pressure that goes with the step up. Someone like Allegri is more than likely to sort out the defensive side first. So that helps a young keeper to gain that confidence and get on a roll. Any foreign keeper has to have the ability to command the box first and that means the media having a go. England has probably one of the highest percentage of crosses of any league. That was the problem with Ospina that forced us to buy Cech in the first place. That won't be an issue with someone like Butland.
Butland only, the other 2 are average players. Shaqiri would fit in at someone like West Ham. Shawcross can stay in the championship.
If he’s rebuilt his career then he’s worth bringing back.
I was happy we sent him on loan for 2 years because I knew he was too good to be warming the bench but not good enough to start for us at the time.
I’d much rather Woj than our current options and Butland for that matter. Butland has probably conceded more goals this season than Woj has in the last 3 combined
Btw I’d love Oblak but I’d imagine to get him we’d have to meet his release clause which supposedly is in the region of £80M
Butland
Pickford got stick for being between the sticks Arby’s sunderland and this year at Everton but we s twice the talent.

Yeah. Thats what I mean abt any top top keeper is a luxury that applies more to a team who need a top keeper for the final piece in the puzzle. We are not that close tbh. I much rather we spent that sort of money on a Vieira mk.2.
Yeah Bertrand could be a decent option if saints go down. Not sure on Cedric, my dad’s a Southampton fan, he never seems to rate him much. Says Pied often does better when he plays. But it’d be decent competition for Bellerin. Rest of their squad is pretty dire. Think they might just escape the drop anyway. Fancy them to get a point against Everton, then beat Swansea. Got City last game, so that’s a write off. Huddersfield are ones who could go. Got to play, city, Chelsea and us. Although they’ve got us at home, so that’s 3 points for them!

This would have been Szczesney’s 3rd year had we loaned him. We made a huge mistake selling him. He could have been our Courtois
Id never bring Shawcross to Arsenal after what he did to Ramsey, even if Ramsey had left.
No way back for Wojciech Szczęsny. Not good enogh. Why suddenly people think he has changed since he left is beyond me. Agree with J99 here.
GT - because he has changed. He has clearly improved since he moved to Italy. Even Jenius can see that. The reservations against him is if he can mentally handle the pressure of being a #1 at a big club
