Liverpool are being way overrated. Second in an easy group, lost to Roma 4-1 in the semi, and scrapped through despite conceding six over the two legs.

Real Madrid are infinitely better than anything Liverpool have faced in the CL this season. Can see 2 or 3 nil to Real, may be even more.

Really difficult one to call. Fancy Madrid to do it again but a Liverpool win wouldn’t be a shock. For the goof d of football Madrid need to make it three on the trot. Preferably with a dodgy decision.

Yeah we came first in the group. Then we beat City, the favourites, Roma, who beat the next favourites and will play Madrid, the next favourites and holders in the final.

You don't half talk some crap, incontinent old crust bucket.

50/50 game. Liverpool actually finished the season quite shabbily, drawing with WBA, losing to Stoke and losing to Roma and slipping into 4th place having been pushing for 2nd not too long ago. The hullabaloo over reaching the CL final kind of masked that a bit. But having had two weeks break they should be back on it and pumped.

-------------

We didn't lose to Stoke but you're right. There was a tail off to our performances and energy. Two weeks off will help that though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think the CL final masked anything, I believe it was the other way around - The CL final took the focus away from the remaining league games and nobody wanted to get injured. I think they were consciously or subconsciously saving themselves for the final a bit. We then kinda had to win the Brighton game and did so at a canter.

You said we'd lose 5-0 to City and said Roma would beat us, so I'm not exactly worried by your prediction.

Got to hand it to the crazy old clunt, he doesnt give up.

I remember the last old clunt to write us off in every road. Bitter old Dunphy. It was 2005.

It's going to be interesting to see how we approach playing against Salah.

One thing that was almost completely overlooked about our tie against PSG was how Neymar was clearly singled out for a roughing up straight out of the blocks.

It almost seemed like our main focus for the first half hours, and even with such an experienced player, it worked. Neymar was pushed out to the fringes of the game and his lack of impact was what allowed us to keep it tight until our late burst.

It's not pretty, and not something I enjoy seeing in general, but I'm interested to see if we choose to go down that route again, and how Salah reacts if we do.

*first half hour. I'm talking about the first leg, of course.

madrids road to the final has been much tougher than liverpools that's for sure so its understandable if they haven't looked their best in some games, I mean its only been psg, juve and Bayern, and yes they will be the best team Liverpool have faced this year in this comp

Yeah, Ace.

North London-born, but Spanish parents and lived back here (in Tenerife at present) since 1980.

And yeah, I'm also an old fart, as that last comment suggests.

Who cares, can only be good for English football. We just need to elevate our game to the levels of Liverpool and City don't we?

"Real Madrid are infinitely better than anything Liverpool have faced in the CL this season"

They really aren't, luck was on their side versus both Juve and Bayern. Their form in La Liga has seriously deteriorated and their best players are pretty far off their form the past 2 years.

They have experience and confidence on their side, but Liverpool have many attributes to hurt them.

posted on 25/5/18

Yeah if Real didn’t have their experience and knack of just getting a win regardless of how $hite they play, I’d be pretty confident of a win. As it is, I’d say I’m optimistic as opposed to confident.

I think it's pretty 50/50. As it'sonlyagame says, Madrid are savvy to the dark arts, if things aren't going their way the ref will be in for a tough time and that could be crucial.

Interesting one, this.

We all accept almost by default that PSG have made a joke of the French league, but the other big sides there are beginning to show encouraging signs.

Marseille, Lyon and Monaco have all looked pretty good this year, and there's Monaco title season last year too, of course.

They all still seem some distance off competing with PSG consistently, and probably won't while PSG continue to operate on a military-sized budget, but they certainly seem to have risen the overall standard of the top sides in Ligue 1.

I think so, especially in this competition, yes they have had a few iffy games as have liverpool, but have turned it on when they've needed it, I think they knew a long time ago the league was gone to barce and the league performances showed that

I am more worried by their strength in depth than anything. 11 against 11 I think on our day we can match anyone, however if they have a couple of lads who have a nightmare they can bring on a couple of worldies... we cant say the same.

However I think obviously it is a finely balanced game and we do have the ability to have one of our immense 20min spell that means they have to chase the game, which would be their worst nightmare as that leaves more gaps for our fast counter!

Not gonna lie, cant wait...whilst simultaneously shaking like a sh1ting dog!

That's my big worry about Madrid, they know exactly how to slow the game down and break any opposition's momentum.

Every tie we have won leading up to the final was due to blitzing teams in 20 minute spells, and I don't know if we'll be able to do that against Madrid.
