Chelsea lost 10 games in Premiership.Our season was very poor.
You were champions and spent circa £250m on the squad, and then came 5th. You will be on to a new manager, the clubs image took more hits for off the field antics, and you found out you will be at Wembley for 4 years. But you won the FA cup.
Probably because there really has been so few memorable performances from our team. We kind of slept walked through most of the season up until the final.

We sold Costa for £50m, Matic for £40m, Ake for £20m, Its not like we added £250m worth of talent on top of what we had. Finishing 5th... 4/5 points off top 4 considering we played so poorly (against the lesser sides too) a couple of addictions and well be right back up there. Oh and we won 25% of the trophies on offer to us.
Also Chavy One,Chelsea did not spend money from transfer of Oscar to Chinese club on any player.
We will have a stable manager next season in Maurizio Sarri who can work with what hes got and imorove the team where possible. He wont moan about lack of transfers which is what we need with the type of board we have. If we get a director of football I would genuinely make us serious title challenging tho.

But we already know what the major contributing cause was, if you spend as much time reading the articles on the Chelsea board as you appear to, you'd know Chelsea supporters understand that, as the majority have been saying it since well before Xmas!
You announce it, as some ground breaking, in depth analysis that no one has thought of before!
As a fan of Rangers in the gold fish bowl of Scottish. Its interesting to see the difference in what is considered a good season. By no means saying its wrong or bad, but certainly interesting. Do you think if the expectations of fans from clubs in top 6 changed from accepting anything less than titles then it would change the success of clubs?

There was an unshakable directionless sense about us this season (the difference between us and Pool/Spurs). We had a manager who didn't want to be here and players who turned up when they felt like it.
Hypothetically, if we had this exact same season next year under Sarri in terms of results, but the football started to click, the manager was engaged, and the players were enjoying themselves, the vibe would be completely different.
Clubs need to stop over paying mediocre players and give world class players the wages Spain offers. No top 4 side in the PL should be selling world class players. It's the ultimate acceptance the club probably won't achieve anything great
The championship is the 4th richest league in Europe. You could probably make a squad of mediocre players from the Scottish league that couldn't cut it here and did there. That's insane.

It was as much the teams we lost to and the manner in which we lost some if these games, which was most troubling...
I feel we seriously let ourselves down at times this season due to awful selection decisions and lack of in game management from Conte at crucial times

This season due to the club and Conte we have gone backwards. Something we do quite a bit after a previously good season.

No he wasn’t, but at PL level he had a partnership with Kante that worked well and allowed when necessary for Fabregas to come on with 20 mins to go and make a difference. The only point of selling Matic was to get a CL class CM. In the end we replaced him with a feckin pick and mix bag of midfield shiiiteeee
