Should have been 3-0 up in fist half.

We will likely only have one more game against a team that will park the bus ... so I'm not gonna give up on this formation yet... a more open game should see the formation work better, imo

Well deserved win and hopefully looks to have set up a great tie in the 3rd game

I just don’t see it ever suiting Kane or any of our forwards tbh unless there’s more width from the fullbacks.

Some really good launching and wrestling in the box. Some amazing pinball. Incredibly free flowing stramashing won through in the end.

That may be the case RR, but they were poor and lucky to only have lost 2-1 without conceding a penalty.

Thought Lingard was actually quite good (shooting aside, in which he should have scored a couple)

Good movement, didn’t lose the ball and linked up well with those around him.

Sterling on the other hand...

Don't kid yourself Pride.
I agree Sterling was pap. I'm tired of the "he's still young" excuse. He's 23 years old but he keeps running into cul-de-sacs.

Lingard was just as bad. Rashford left the ball on Lingard's call and he messed it up.

Don't think either were that bad really. Sterling was trying too hard but he's always judged more harshly when he plays for England. Lingard, misses aside, played OK.

Not kidding myself at all, but missing some chances doesn’t automatically make everything else bad. Some people are far too reactionary too isolated incidents.

Everything that was good in that first 15 minutes, Lingard was involved in. Some of the best football I’ve seen is play in some time. Then we lost our way a bit unfortunately. Still it’s possobly not a bad thing and expectation won’t rise too much and we got 3 points whilst digging in until the end.

I know he scored two goals, but between those, I thought Kane was worse than both of them tbh.

I don’t think kane was bad in the sense of his play, I just felt he wasn’t really involved for long periods of the game

Kane needed to be where he needed to be imho.
The absence of our midfield was telling.

Hence my comment that it was 5-3-2... with Henderson as DM, and the reliance on hoofball to get set pieces.

I don’t particularly blame Kane for it, more the system.

I said earlier today that Young should not be starting for us let alone the national team.

He offers nothing at all attacking wise.

My fear will still be that we do not have one decent CM let alone a quality one who can open up a defence.

As a huge Liverpool fan, it is easy to say - but I thought Henderson was excellent

I’ve never heard any of them behave like that.

Sterling and Lingard were generally poor. Henderson played well and so did Kane even beyond the goals. Loftus-Cheek did himself no harm.

I’m afraid I’d drop Sterling next game. He’s just so passive for England. Even when he beats a man I can’t tell if it was deliberate or not. There’s just no purpose to anything he does.

So if you had seen that performance from United against a team like Barnsley in the FA cup, you'd be happy? Maybe Mourinho is the right coach for you!

We came second playing shiiit football most of the time.

Would you take a World Cup final appearance if it meant dreadful performances and scraping a win?

now that is the question. As a Chelsea fan, I was glad to see the back of Mourinho both times despite the success. As an England fan, we've been in the wilderness for so long now, I really don't know what I want. I just know we've been playing crappi football for years anyway.

If we win it, yes.
If we still lose, no, not really.
