Costa Rica finished top of that group.

Let that sink in

This is all absolute nonsense. Complete and utter nonsense.

Tunisia are a good side, the highest ranked African team. Panama are poor, but I’ve never in my life seen a World Cup match be 5-0 at half time. In fact, even games between Prem and League 2 sides in the Cup are never that one sided.

Colombia are a damn good team, topped their group and have genuine class throughout the side. Sanchez, Mina, Quintero, Cuadrado, Falcao. We controlled the vast majority of the game and then showed greater mental strength in the shootout.

Sweden are very underrated, and overcame France, Netherlands and Italy in qualifying, then Mexico and Switzerland in the finals. They were only just beaten by Germany. No team that reaches a WC QF is a pushover and nobody will ever convince me otherwise. England brushed them aside with remarkable ease.

I’m sick of everyone in this country dismissing any national side that doesn’t have 5+ premier league players in and I’m sick of everyone in this country treating reaching a SF as if it were handed on a plate. Clueless.

England well and truly done brilliant and played above expectations, no one disagrees, I think you have a great chance at the Euros but Kane needs a partner for the England team.

A Vardy and Kane Partnership would of rocked Croatia and Belgium

The only people that would downplay or even slate the best England team of the modern era are mainly all Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal fans. As between the three clubs their only contribution was Henderson

Much was made of our potential easier route to the final, and no doubt it was missing the top names.

We did however play 3 group winners in the KO rounds.

Colombia
Sweden (finished above Germany and Mexico)
Croatia (finished above Argentina)

Southgate played the way I like the game to be played wide and direct, really hate all this narrow tiki taka none sense, the smaller teams have it sussed now, hop fully get back to the old fashioned 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 or 4-3-3

Prefer a more direct style myself, like the old pass and move. That said, a lot of Tika taka style teams play with a 3-5-2 or a 4-3-3 Barca have for years used both those formations.

They were decent in 2014 though.

The reason England have not beaten any quality team in this world cup, is that there is no real quality. Some very average overhyped teams, and most of them blew up very, very quickly. The final should tell you all you need to know about the quality. OK teams, but nowhere near outstanding.

On paper the France team is better than plenty of previous winners. They've not played particularly well but the quality is most certainly there

Tunisia-fack knows why they are top in aftica, corrupt seeding system probably -they were crap.

Panama, up with zaire for worst team ever at a WC. Postmen and carpenters select, Sunday league quality.

Columbia were decent enough, but missed their best player which cost them, and Sweden were a lot harder to beat than some would give credit for, ugly football, but hard to beat.

Croatia were a good side, and should have comfortably beat us in the end when they got going, but we have them a scare.

But take nothing away from this England side, can only beat what’s in front and did for the most part. Played without fear (something missing for years), and did very well indeed, even with an easy draw.

Salute you Southgate, you did well.

It’s played so narrow, it is pointless, might aswell be a 2-2-2-2–1-1

Not true. Belgium, Brazil, France, Spain, Uruguay, Argentina, Portugal, even Germany, are all above average teams with players that can hurt the opposition. There is no way you can tell me France are average when they knocked out Argentina, Uruguay and Belgium and have reached a second successive final. What are you on about?

As for Tunisia being one of the more difficult African teams based on their ranking. Switzerland are currently ranked above France and Spain. Can anyone honestly tell me they're the better team? I think that says it all.

Don't get me wrong, our side of the draw was weaker on paper.

Tournament football isn't played on paper though - it is a lot to do with form over a short period and how much of a team you are.

England played three sides in the ko rounds who topped their groups, that is a fact. Form teams.

Sweden topped a group with Germany in it, and hammered Mexico to top it.

Croatia qualified so easily from Argentina's group - who they hammered - they had a spare game 3.

Colombia lost their first after having a man sent off early but hammered Poland and topped their group

England could have played Germany and Spain en-route to going out, but they are good sides only in name and reputation. The fact is both went out feebly

Scoring a last minute winner against Tunisia was pretty exciting.

Putting 6 past Panama in the biggest win of the tournament was pretty exciting.

The Colombia game was.pretty exciting on its own, let alone the seesawing penalty shootout.

I understand they would not thrill a bitter Sweaty, but England fans will have enjoyed them
