How would people rate his stint as a premier league player?
================
about the same as Andriy Voronin
Excellent stuff from Marco Silva, reducing his net spend by selling a cack player for so much. Kudos to him.
I am not sure what is going on in Dutch football, but Dutch players used to be good in the PL. Players like Overmars, Robben, Van Der Sar, Van Persie, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooy, etc, they were all top class.
Now we just see players going to the PL and utterly fail. Not sure what has changed, maybe we are in a poor spell, but the future looks bleak. We dont have top top players anymore.
I do think that players need to stay in Holland longer a few more years. Players leave at too young age to make a difference in the PL.
The last young player to move was van Persie but he was exceptional talent and was brought slowly by Wenger, learning from Bergkamp until he was ready to take his place.
I hope Chong at United does well, but I am afraid he will also see his career fizzle out and end up playing for Argyle Plymouth
The last young player to move *and succeed* was Van Persie

He's Uruguayan, not Dutch.
Let me say this. The dutch league still produce good talents but the focus is more on one dimensional players with passing and tactics. The freedom to express them self is limited by those dinosaurs coaches.
The dutch league is also poor but outside the top 5 Europe leagues the dutch still have a better league than most in Europe.
The infrastructure for youth development is the best in Europe but need to get rid of those dinosaur coaches.

What Dinosaur coaches? We have had young coaches for a while now succeeding in the Dutch leage.
Bosz, Cocu, v Bronckhorts, vd Boer, Ten Hag, I dont think there are any dinosaur coaches left, except Sluutsky at Vitesse, he looks like a dinosaur.
The thing about dinosaurs is, kids dinosaurs are made of plastic. Plastic is made from oil. Oil is derived from fossilized dinosaurs.
So.… dinosaurs are made from dinosaurs
Think the lad deserves a lot of credit. He came and he tried and never moaned or slagged anyone off. He’s now moved on and I’d imagine took a decent pay cut to play football
I wish Sturridge and others would do the same

They have outdated methods of working. Their tactics are still of 20 years ago with their 433 and wingers who need to cross the ball. Modern football is about wingers who can come inside and score goals like Salah, Mane, Ronaldo, Neymar and others. Those coaches you have mentioned and none of them will cut it internationally. Bosz had a stint at Dortmund and didn't last a few months and the same for FDB. I have high hopes for Cocu and van Bommel.
The club I hate the most in the Netherlands is Ajax the rest I don't mind.
My home town the hague is the third big city in the Netherlands and could have the third big club in the country but the people at the helm of Ado are clueless.
