Bristol City V Forest Match Thread

Spoke to lots of people who went to the Bournemouth game who were really impressed by the pace Forest played at. Noticeably quicker both in and out of possession than recent years apparently.

Murphy was a little frustrating apparently. Soudani is apparently a beast who will look to really throw his weight around. Grabban is the one I am backing to really get amongst the goals out of all of the striking options, though. I hope Brereton manages to stay around the first team picture and is patient.

No way of getting a ticket in the Brizzle end, RFB?

I suppose I might be able to do that, but I would have to pretend to be a Brizzle supporter. So I'm going to Prescot instead.
It will be an interesting game with a rooki goalkeeper between the sticks. I think City have just promoted him out of the academy looking at his place on their first team website. Couldn't find him to begin with, stuck amongst their midfielders!

Ha! You beat me to it. I was just to excited to type I guess!!

I don't think we have any injuries do we? Just people getting back to full fitness.

Forest are nearly 3's and Bristol City have lost a fair few. I'd imagine Adekulan and Eisa to try and step up and provide the goal threat.

2-1 Forest

Excellent post Bear.

Flint and Reid will be big losses for them and without their first choice keeper this could be a good time to play them.

When the fixtures came out I though our first two games looked losable. But now I am optimistic for this one at least.

Grabban should definitely come in for Murphy and I can see us scoring a couple at least.

Yes it's a very good time to play them for a change.

Would be nice to get the win, I can't remember the last time we beat em' down here.

might be 2011, Kris Boyd banging in a couple!

Was that the 3-2 win when Chambers scored a header?

Could be a good time to play them, although the replacements for Flint and Reid will be looking to prove a point. They’ll also love to be first to put Forest in their place after all the recruitment that Karanka has been doing this summer.

Mate who is a Brizzle fan is quietly confident as they seem to be able to recruit well for decent prices like Brentford. Said they would have taken £100 for Reid two years ago so it is funny how players suddenly find form. Said that it will be a decent crowd down there and there is expectation there that Brizzle will go one better and make the play offs this season.

They've got a goalkeeper too, been training with em' all preseason!

Not long to go now boys and girls...⚽️🌳👍🏼

Bristol are always difficult to play at their place. I think I have only known Forest to win their once.

Hopefully a good time to play them. A win away from home would be the perfect way to start the season,

They have a team that has progressed well over the last few years since they got promoted. Forest are still getting to know each other. That will count for something I’m sure.

For those who may have forgotten or didn't know EFL highlights will this season be shown on Freeview channel 37 Quest - 9 p.m.

Yes, I saw that. Will have to have a search through the telebox channels later.

What is everyone thinking for today? Ashton Gate hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for a few years. Forest have been convincingly beaten there quite a few times in a row without offering much. It will take a real turnaround in fortunes for Forest to buck the recent trend. I can’t dexide between 1-1 or 1-2 to Forest. I think Brizzle will get at Forest very early in and see how well organised they are with all the new additions. Important that Forest don’t have to chase the game from an early stage, I reckon.

One thing is for sure, they’re going to have to improve markedly their last away trip to Bolton where they waved the white flag under little real pressure.

If AK needed convincing of anything I think that display at Bolton confirmed for him that he needed a completely new squad if we were to do anything this season.

Now he has one so no excuses.

We have nothing to go on; no yardstick or form guide for this game. We are feeling confident, the brizzle fans are probably more hopeful than confident given the difference in transfer activity.

We should realise that we are not going to win every game this season, and this could easily be one we lose; but I'm hoping that they will make it an open game which should suit us so I'll go for a narrow victory.

Team against Bolton:

Kapino - X
Darikwa
Hobbs - X
Fox
Osborn
Colback
Bridcutt (Vellios - X)
Watson (Guedioura)
Lolley
Brereton
Tomlin - X (Cash)

Unused Substitutes:

Lichaj - X
Mancienne - X
Bouchalakis - X
Smith

Only 11 players remain from that 18.

It's a tough Away game to start the season with, but I think we'll start with a....win!!

My biggest worry for this year is a few bad results and the tide turns on the manager, bit like last year

We have tough a start and a defeat will be disappointing but not a disaster and certainly not a sign things are wrong! It’s a question of perspective
