Well, we have learned that pre-season means bugger-all and Lampard is a lucky manager.
More worries than positives though.
Biggest worries:
Keogh looked exactly like the player 666 imagines him to be.
Wisdom looks slow
Midfield showed the resistance of a wet paper bag - far too easy for Reading to get into our final third when a Rams move broke down.
good points.
Lawrence performance
took three points without playing well
I'll take a lucky manager all day long....

As Napoleon said, I don't want good generals, I want lucky ones.
Most defenders look slow compared to Barrow. That is why he needed support.
The game was won by our passing the ball round in the first half causing the Reading midfield to tire themselves out pressing for the ball, just like Croatia beat England.
The only problem with that tactic is if we give the ball away cheaply, which Keogh managed twice. He had the most touches and the more touches you have the more likely you will make an error, simple statistics
Let’s not throw the baby out with the dishwater.
Rowett’s tactics served us well last season especially away from home. We still have the players to play that way especially if we keep Vydra. I think this could be an option on our travels.
Clements side pressed the way we pressed Southampton and Wolves and they nearly got the win. He had clearly done his homework and I have to say in the preseason game against Coventry they pressed us and caused us some problems.
Plan A will work against possession sides but the Rowett plan will be better against those who press.
Lampard was smart enough to switch things about in the second half and we had more control so it shows he’s flexible. I’m glad we found it hard because it gives Frank far more to work with than he would have if we’d come away with a one sided victory.
Forsyth would have been stronger for their goal and would probably have cleared it, Lowe was out muscled, but the young lad deserves a bit of a run in the side to see what he can do.
The Derby fans were too quick for the effects mic. sound man last night though.
Rameses ... don't agree I'm afraid. I've seen Fozzy outjumped many times in situations like that. LOWE was decent last night and will get better. Fozzy reached his peak way back.
Was Lowe fouled or was it just a case of the Icelander being a little more streetwise?
I wonder if Kate knows Wills is a closet Derby fan?

Lowe was weak View. Made no attempt to head it. Totally bossed and made to look like.a boy. I am sure other Championship managers looked on that with great interest.
Only saw the first half but a toddler bum shuffling would have out paced Keogh.
Just reenforces the glaring issue of our weakness at LB. At least Lowe has some energy and enthusiasm about his play.
Until we replace with better he should keep his place IMO.
Anyhow, lets just enjoy the dramatic win for now.
Well done Frank, UTR.
Just watched the extended highlights.
I doubt whether the Reading goal would have been allowed at Pride Park but they tend to given at home. Similar goal to one Martin scored against Wolves.
Keogh's distribution was awful last night but ironically we didn't concede because of it and one bad pass led to our equaliser.
Ledley was incredibly slow for Keogh's first error. What was Keogh doing making that school boy error of passing across his own goal anyway.
Reading were shot in the second half. Far from us being lucky to win we should have won by more.
Nowt wrong at all with the Reading goal, as I saw it.
Anyone else getting annoyed with Shane Nicholson's barked Yesses when we score ?
Sounds like he's throwing up. Stop it !

I agree, they are not playing tiddlywinks.
Perfectly good goal, I’d be ripping If we’d had it disallowed

As amateur commentators they say too much. They should let the picture tell the story and just elucidate the complex situations that always arise. They need to learn how to keep quiet.
