Peak, please share a link to where the club have said that there is a war chest of 19m.
They have not, people are just making assumptions.
There are links out there, I remember reading them at the time. Do you dispute the 49ers £10m? or the AR loan of £9m? Add the two together and hey presto!
Search for the info yourself. I can’t be ar$ed to do it right now.
Club has stated clear aim of top 6 but does not back it up with its actions selling Vierra , looking at Pennington .Orta whispering in AR's ear "trust me my signings were fine it was the coaches who couldn't handle them".
Been saying this for the past 2 years, Lockyer at Bristol Rovers
Peak, the club have never said there is 19m to spend, you are seeing figures and assuming that is money for transfers, when the club has never ever said that, check the club's quotes.
The club has not said it was moving some distance away from Elland Road but it's been promoted on here as if it were gospel.
You can't pick and choose.
£20 million was the rumour, and it was rumour, and that's what's been used as the stated warchest.
Not guilty, Jonty. I’m merely stating what has been written. The 49ers money was for squad development as stated by Marathe. AR arranged a loan for £9m. Also for squad development though this was not publicly announced by the club. The £10m was, unless Marathe doesn’t count as ‘the club’ even though he’s a board member.
Come to think of it, I’ve never ever seen any official club announcement by any club as to what it’s war chest is. It’s always calculated by the media etc. What we know for certain is that the 49ers £10m is for squad development. The remaining £9m from AR is an assumption by the media.
https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/exclusive-leeds-united-md-angus-kinnear-predicts-exciting-summer-ahead-after-learning-valuable-lessons-1-9085469
Without mentioning precise values, Kinnear paints a misleading picture. When you include the subsequent quote from the 49ers "The funds invested by 49ers Enterprises will remain inside the Club and will go towards investment in the first-team squad.", you can understand why supporters assumed there was a healthy transfer budget.
The 10 mill from 49ers was not for squad development it was to buy a stake in the club.
The club, as they have done over the years, make a vague statement and fans suddenly assume all that money is for transfers, just like they assumed all Delph money was for TA buy back etc etc etc.
Ok. So Marathe was wrong to say it was for squad development? They bought a stake in the club for £10m. That means they now have some equity in the club and the club has £10m to spend as it wishes, although it was stated by Marathe that it was to spend on strengthening the squad for a promotion push.
“Owner and chairman Andrea Radrizzani is determined to bankroll a promotion bid next season and has promised Bielsa Leeds’ biggest transfer kitty since their Premier League days.
The former Argentina, Chile and Marseille boss will be given the £10million investment from the San Francisco 49ers plus cash Radrizzani has held in reserve for a promotion tilt.”
That’s one of the bits I read weeks ago. Maybe it’s an assumtion but, quite honestly, what else are they going to spend it on given their stated objective of teaching the top six as a minimum? They’d already spent £11m BEFORE Sampdoria made a bid for Vieira out of the blue. An unexpected windfall.
Based on what I’ve read, the appointment of Bielsa, and the club’s declared objectives for the season, I believe that the club has the £19m rumoured war chest.
You think not. Fair enough. Let’s leave it at that and stop the post ping pong that’s crept into this.
But guys it’s a top 6 squad remember. Just needs super coach.
But Pennington? Really? Never seen a centre half give the ball away so much. Bielsa is a coach not a magician.
Thing is he can actually play... he just seems to have panic attacks which is not great when in possession on the edge of your own box. Maybe it’s fixable with a shrink and some camomile tea.
As the original poster said. FFS.
The money invested by the 49ers investment business was being used for recruitment, this has been stated by both the club and Marathe.
As I said elsewhere, £20 million doesn't necessarily mean £20 million when you consider associated fees and wages.
What started out as a fan assumption is now something the club hasn't stated. Something of a shift methinks.
I suspect the speculation came from the Mirror and has gained momentum from lazy journalism.
However, when you do look at transfer fees, loan fees, players' wages, agents fees, signing on fees and league-related levies, I suspect that we aren't far short of £20 million.
Continued speculation surrounds further signings and I think we could see two more before the window closes.
Players in thus far, players sold, released or loaned out leaves Leeds United with a more focused and, I believe, stronger squad. There's still more room for improvement but this window has been good for Leeds United.
I accept and agree with others that business has been conducted late but we don't know how long negotiations have been ongoing. And we don't. Our medical school appear to be more thorough than before and in that vein, isn't it interesting that Vydra has some injury problems......?
I'm encouraged.
Medicals not medical school. iPad has a life of its own!
Vague statement from the club......
"Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear has promised the club will invest the money they received from 49ers Enterprises back into the playing squad this summer.
Kinnear joined talkSPORT a few hours after Leeds confirmed a minority stake in the club had been sold to the investment group behind NFL franchise the San Francisco 49ers.
Reports say around £10m has been invested in the Elland Road club, and Kinnear made it clear that this money will be used to improve LeedsÂ’ first-team squad ahead of the 2018/19 season.
When asked if he could promise the investment would go towards strengthening the playing squad, Kinnear told Jim White: “Absolutely! That was core to the deal."
That doesn't sound vague to me.....
With regards to Delph money and TA buy back, Ken Bates stated that this was his prime objective but he missed the deadline. Purposely I suspect given the fact that he was a lying cheating bar steward.
......and with that, your honour, I rest my case.

Morning Wakey,
Thanks for the endorsement........
Not quite sure why I deserve such overwhelming positivity from you.
If money that is invested into the club by the 49ers or from AR is actually spent on day-to-day expenses such as player wages, then it implies that the club continues to be a loss making money pit and we should be seriously concerned.
I think the last set of Cellino accounts demonstrated that player sales were required to generate a profit.
That position has clearly improved further still under AR with evidence that he himself has invested in a number of areas plus giving the club more liquidity.
The 49ers wasn't about raising cash, it's about a strategic partnership.
My point was, in terms of a transfer kitty, is that the allocated sum is not just for transfer fees. That doesn't mean the 49ers investment is going on existing wages, that'll have been already budgeted for.
Peak, point I’m making is about what the club actually says versus what the press say and therefore the fans think.
For example, when Bates was asked about TA he said its a priority. What does that mean exactly? But fans think it means he’s definiteky buying it back. When asked about the Delph Money for TAKING I think he says something like ‘it won’t hurt’ next thing fans think we have the 6 m it needs to but back TA etcetc
Look for what the club actually say. All AK says it stuff like it was go towards the squad, it’s really as open ended as can be.
As for what 49 era says, they’ve said aim is promotion, AR says top 6 so even between then they’re not consistent.
The bottom line is AR and co like Amazon are in it for the most money they can squeeze out of its customers and cunningly pocket for themselves. Like Bates and all the other incumbents at Elland Road with little investment you can comfortably ciphon/earn 5/6 million pounds for yourself each year. The accounts can disguise quite easily and legally administration fees and miscellaneous fees that in truth end up in the owners back pocket
Also agents are another rich source of income as deals are struck up in the old you scratch my back I'll scratch yours.
The depressing reality for Leeds is we are stuck in this situation with owners who are only willing to go so far and to risk the big buck transfers to get promotion would mean risking their comfortable guaranteed income each year
Only when the natives/customers get restless and vocally turn on the owners demanding better signings etc will they get uncomfortable and pass the baton/sell to someone else. We just have to hope we get lucky this season with what we got and somehow can achieve promotion and the riches of the premier league will sustain us with quality players and the owners will have plenty left over to appease/satisfy their financial appetite.
again none of us have any clue about war chests, budgets etc, the club keep that close to their chests, and rightly so.. so we can post links to support any argument we want but we're all still p1ssing in the wind I'm afraid.
