BTW, anyone else have an inkling that City might not win the league? I mean when's the last time we has back to back PL winners? 2008 when United when 3 in a row.
Since then the competition within the PL has grown quite a bit so is it surprising that pretty much everyone has City down as automatic winners? There's also the element of player complacency coming off the back of a title winning season.

There was an article some time ago talking about how pressing teams usually peak around the 3rd year in their cycle and then fade away afterwards.
Obviously there is a whole host of variables to take into account but I'm guessing the article was speaking on an average return than saying ALL pressing teams fade after the 3rd year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it is because the players age & become less durable hence these issues. Most pressing teams seem to have no injury issues at the start then as time progresses they get huge amounts. Thankfully Spurs aren't really a pressing team like they used to be anymore - which potentially bodes well for sustainability.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever I think about the extremes of pressing the game that sticks out for me is Dortmund at home against Real Madrid in 2013. I think if you're looking for the best pressing performance of any team ever. That is the one. At the time there were reports that Dortmund was pressing to those similar levels almost throughout the season. Something similar to that can defo burn any team out and if my memory serves me correctly, it was after that season, that things derailed for Klopp at Dortmund.
Thankfully we save our pressing exploits for the really big games these days. Klopp has learnt from that past experience.

I think if we were to see the same 433 with Sane/Sterling as the 'wide men' and the fullbacks playing inverted I would tend to agree.
Yet I think with Mendy coming back we will see much less of Sane - whose skills lie in 1v1 attacking - as him and Walker will provide the width/be the wingers. This would allow B.Silva/Mahrez etc more game-time as City look to flood the midfield with more #10 style players like Pep teams of the past. I think it will take a lot of PL teams too long a time to figure City out that the edge will be enough to surpass them.
Can see Zidane coming in in September and us going on a massive winning streak. We probably won't win the Champions League this year, but the League and a domestic cup won't be too bad.

Just can't see Spurs bothering the Top 4 this season unless they strengthen their squad in a few key positions. Too one dimensional and far too reliant on Eriksen for creativity. They need more options going forward.

City team broke records and look too strong still, no signed that many but have Mendy etc coming back be like a new signing. Also Pep has won 3 titles in a row at his previous 2 clubs?
Hard to see past them, if anyone else is going to beat them then theyre gna have to be off their game whilst other teams especially the top 8 or so learn to take points off them, not just one or two of us like Liverpool and Utd last season. Can't have them finishing anywhere near 100 points again if you want a chance thats for sure.
