Would Jose work under a DOF?
Think a DOF is a good idea. I just hope he hasn’t the power to do what he wants rather than sign Ed’s dream players
Mourinho wants to be the manager. He does not want to be a coach, as he alluded to. Would Ferguson have entertained having a DOF? I don't think so. Some may think this is a good idea and it is where football is going but, it is ridiculous if our manager is not on board with it.
This was discussed yesterday

but io have a lot of time for this topic
tbh, i don't think whoever started the rumour has anymore sources than you or I. I feel it is a conclusion someone as drawn up based on what happened over the summer. A reasonable conjecture but a conjecture nonetheless

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'll be gone by then
Got to worry about about who is making the appointment though surely? The same guys that hired the last 3 managers?
Mourinho worked under Emenalo and Perez, who are more or less the DoF's of their clubs.

if it was a manager I wanted to keep I would be against it. But its Jose, so he can do one
like Mike pointed the big question is do you trust the people who have overseen the post SAF era to make the right appointment?

No. In saying that, I do not want Ed sacked. He should be left to deal with commercial side, and leave transfers to someone else- he really is not good at it.

I doubt he will like that.
This is step 1 in a plan to oust him.
So who do you want after Jose?
Heard Rui Faria has been approached to return to the club to fill this new DOF role...

I was the person whonraiswd thisnqueation when a DOF was first suggested. Even those in support of a DOF being appointed couldn't answer the question.

Yep. If the suits at Utd genuinely believe that this will help Mourinho then they're sorely misguided.
If it goes down like a lead balloon like everyone expects then get rid of Mourinho and get a new guy in but the Dof will still be in place to shape the team. Smart move by Utd.
I very much suspect that we will not go the DoF route until Jose is gone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Poch / Zidane / Jardim / Allegri
Got to be somebody who will bring attractive attacking football back to United, whoever it is.
Us not spending a lot of cash this summer could be a good news for whoever does take over next summer when I expect Jose to be gone. We should have a lot of cash to spend and hopefully we can spend it wisely for once.
LVG as DOF
Sir Giggsy as manager

Maybe,’just maybe Jose won’t mind having a DOF
I think Jose would love a dof to blame stuff on
Giggsy for DOF.
